TIMBER CITY TRADING POST

SUPER BOWL SUNDAY, I TOOK MY CAMERA TO "TIMBER CITY TRADING POST", ONE OF MAQUOKETA'S NEWEST BUSINESS PLACES AT 105 NORTH MAIN STREET, NEXT TO THE BAKERY, OWNED BY RON AND CONNIE BEHRENS, OF
LOST NATION.
 OPEN 7 DAYS A WEEK.
CONNIE NEXT TO A FAVORITE CUPBOARD FOR SALE IN THE STORE.
BELOW, RON IN THE KITCHEN AREA FOR THE BISTRO.
ABOVE, CONNIE'S DESK FOR WHEN  SHE DOES ACCOUNTING AND INCOME TAX WORK.   SHE IS A CPA.
ABOVE,  LOOKING DOWN THE STORE AS YOU COME IN.
THE "BISTRO"  IS OPEN FOR LUNCH MONDAY THROUGH THURSDAY.
BELOW, PLENTY OF SEATING AT A HALF DOZEN TABLES.
RANDY McCUTCHEON OF MAQUOKETA WAS ENTERTAINING VISITORS WHILE
I WAS THERE.   I ALWAYS ENJOY LISTENING TO RANDY.
ANOTHER  PHOTO OF A SECTION OF THE VERY LARGE GIFT STORE.
THE BUILDING IS OWNED BY RON AND CONNIE.   IT WAS THE ODD FELLOWS
LODGE BUILDING A HUNDRED YEARS AGO.   THIS WAS THEIR 3RD FLOOR DINING ROOM OVERLOOKING MAIN STREET.
THIS WAS ONE END OF THE LARGE KITCHEN FOR THE LODGE, AGAIN ON THE 3RD FLOOR.
THIS WAS THE LODGE 2ND FLOOR MEETING ROOM.   NOTE THE ELEVATED FLOOR AROUND THE EDGE WHERE LARGE HIGH-BACK CHAIRS  WERE USED FOR SEATING MEMBERS DURING THEIR MEETINGS.     SMALL STAGE AREA AT
THE END IS THE ORIGINAL.   THOSE WINDOWS LOOK OUT OVER THE ALLEY TO THE EAST.     THIS LARGE ROOM WILL SOON BE THE LIVING ROOM FOR
THE BEHRENS.     RON, A HANDIMAN, WILL DO MOST OF THE WORK.
BELOW IS THE OTHER END OF THE LODGE MEETING ROOM.
ABOVE, CLICK ON THE ARROW AND HEAR RANDY DO A SONG THAT I
RECORDED WHILE I WAS THERE.

HOPE YOU ENJOYED A VISIT TO A MAQUOKETA BUILDING WITH A LOT
OF HISTORY.    FOR MANY YEARS, THE MAIN FLOOR WHERE THE GIFT
SHOP AND  BISTRO IS NOW, WAS THE HOME FOR BOB AND FRANCIS
MELVOLD'S MAQUOKETA NEWSPAPER.

THANKS CONNIE AND RON FOR BRINGING THIS BUILDING BACK TO LIFE.
GOOD LUCK IN YOUR NEW BUSINESS.     HERE'S HOPING LOTS OF
PEOPLE WILL VISIT YOUR STORE SOON AND BROWSE AROUND.   A
GRAND OPENING IS COMING SOON.
