THE FINAL PHOTO (BY LOIS FISCHER) OF OUR KMAQ HALLWAY
WITH 423 JARS OF PEANUT BUTTER FOR THE MAQUOKETA
COMMUNITY CUPBOARD.   THE PHOTO TAKEN THIS  MORNING
JUST BEFORE THEY WERE LOADED INTO A PICKUP AND TAKEN
TO THE CUPBOARD BUILDIGN ON WEST PLATT STREET.
THE COMMUNITY CUPBOARD IS OPEN EVERY FRIDAY MORNING AND GIVE FOOD TO
ANYONE, NO QUESTIONS ASKED AND ANYWHERE BETWEEN 100 AND 150 STOP
IN.   THE FIRST KMAQ COLLECTED BUTTER GOES OUT TOMORROW MORNING AND
FUTURE FRIDAY MORNINGS UNTIL ALL IS GONE.    THIS WAS KMAQ'S 3RD YEAR
FOR THE PEANUT BUTTER DRIVE.   THE FIRST YEAR, 216 JARS WERE BROUGHT IN
AND LAST YEAR, 370.    WE ARE VERY HAPPY ABOUT THE 421.  
AND THIS YEAR, A FREE THEATRE TICKET WENT TO ANYONE BRINING IN 5 JARS AND
THE VOY THEATRE GAVE OUT AROUND 50 OF THIS ADMISSION TICKETS.   THANKS
TO THE THEATRE.
ALL 423 JARS FIT IN JAKE'S PICKUP, AS YOU CAN SEE ABOVE IN FRONT OFTHE KMAQ ST'UDIOS.    THE TRUCK WAS LOADED AND UNLOADED ON WEST PLATT BY (LEFT TO RIGHT) RICK HENSHAW,  JAKE BICKFORD (THE OLDEST, SEATED) AND DOUG MELVOLD.    KMAQ THANKS THEM FOR VOLUNTEERING TO DO THIS FOR US.

GLENDA LEEPER (HUSBAND IS KRIS, MORNING ANNOUNCER AT KMAQ) WAS IN CAMANCHE RECENTLY TO WATCH (WITH KRIS) HER GRANDSON PLAY BASKETBALL FOR NORTH CEDAR AGAINST 
CAMANCHE.   AND THERE HE WAS, SCOUTING FOR THE HAWKEYES.   VERY NICE PICTURE OF BOTH.

NANCY AND I WERE INVITED TO THE JACKSON COUNTY MASTER GARDNERS
CHRISTMAS PARTY AND AWARDS NIGHT LAST NIGHT IN BELLEVUE.   THE EVENT
WAS HELD IN THE DINING ROOM NEXT TO BELLEVUE'S BREWERY.      SO, I HAD MY
FIRST BEER BREWED IN THE COUNTY AND IT WAS GOOD.      THEN THE DELICIOUS DINNER CATERED BY THE  RIVERVIEW HOTEL.   KEEP THEM IN MIND.    NEXT,
THE  MANY AWARDS TO MEMBERS AND GUESTS.    I RECEIVED A THANK YOU
CERTIFICATE FOR PROMOTING THE GARDNERS ON KMAQ DURING THE YEAR.
THIS INCLUDES THE  TWICE-MONTHLY "JUST TALK" SHOW.     ON LEFT,   A
CERTIFICATE TO SANDRA GERLACH AND  ON RIGHT ONE TO  MELISSA WOOD, BOTH FOR THINGS THEY DO TO HELP MAKE THE JACKSON COUNTY (NOW IN 20TH YEAR)
ONE OF THE TOPS IN THE STATE.    FUN AND CAROLS CLOSED OUT THE NIGHT.

MIKE KELLY OF PRESTON,  KMAQ'S NEW BASKETBALL PLAY-BY-PLAY MAN.
DID HIS FIRST GAME LAST WEEK FOR THE CARDINAL BOYS (A VICTORY) AND WITH THEIR 1 AND 0 RECORD TAKE ON CENTERPOINT-URBANA TOMORROW NIGHT.   THE ROAD GAME WILL START AT  7:30 AND MIKE WILL TAKE TO THE AIR AT ABOUT 7:20 TOMORROW NIGHT, ON KMAQ-FM 95.1 AND ON OUR INTERNET HOME PAGE

LAST FRIDAY NIGHT, HE DID THE CARDINAL GIRL'S GAME AGAINST INDEPENDENCE WHICH WAS EASILY WON BY MAQUOKETA  AND THEIR  RECORD IS NOW 4 AND 0 AND THEY ARE RANKED IN THE TOP 15 IN THE STATE.
MIKE IS A FORMER BASKETBALL COACH AND IS THE CROSS COUNTRY COACH FOR EAST CENTRAL IN PRESTON.    HIS WIFE HEIDI SITS NEXT TO HIM AND KEEPS THE STATS FOR HIM.   MIKE ALSO WORKS FOR OLY'S GARAGE IN PRESTON.

FRIDAY DAILY

AFTER JUST ONE WEEK, WE HAVE 179  JARS OF PEANUT BUTTER IN OUR HALLWAY FOR MAQUOKETA COMMUNITY CUBBOARD.     VERY GOOD.
OUR GOAL IS 400 AND THAT WOULD BEAT LAST YEAR.


THE MAQUOKETA BOYS WON THEIR OPENING 
BASKETBALL GAME OF THE SEASON TUESDAY NIGHT.
THE GIRLS HAVE A 3 AND 0 RECORD, ARE RANKED
12TH IN THE STATE AND HOST INDEPENDENCE TONIGHT.   WE WILL HAVE THE GAME RIGHT HERE
ON THE KMAQ HOME PAGE, STARTING AQT 7:20.

THE MAQUOKETA CHAMBER OF COMMERCE ANNOUNCED TODAY THAT THE DEADLINE FOR VOTING IN THE RESIDENTIAL DECORATING CONTEST IS DECEMBER 13TH.     DRIVE BY THE 9 ENTRIES, VOTE FOR YOUR FAVORITE AND DROP OFF YOUR CHOICE TO THE CHAMBER OFFICE DOWNTOWN.
HERE ARE THE HOMES ENTERED....
THE HOWELL HOME WON LAST YEAR AND CAN NOT WIN TWO YEARS IN A ROW.
BUT BE SURE AND SEE IT ANYWAY.  

OVER 80 JARS OF PEANUT BUTTER HAVE BEEN 
BROUGHT TO KMAQ IN OUR 3RD ANNUAL PEANUT
BETTER AT CHRISTMAS TIME DRIVE....AND TO BE TAKEN TO THE MAQUOKETA COMMUNITY CUPBOARD BEFORE CHRISTMAS.
