LONNIE HERMAN WON KMAQ BINGO TODAY.    THIS LONGTIME AVID

BINGO SINCE 2008 AND HAS NEVER WON.   ABOUT TIME!    HER WINNING CARD NUMBER WAS 7777.   SHE WON $15 CASH, TWO VOY THEATRE TICKETS AND TWO COD DINNERS AT THE HIGH SCHOOL TOMORROW NIGHT.

CHAD SPECHT HAS  RESIGNED AS HEAD BASKETBALL COACH AT MAQUOKETA HIGH SCHOOL, AFTER TWO YEARS.    THIS YEAR'S SEASON ENDED WITH A TOURNAMENT LOSS AGAINST DAVENPORT ASUMPTION MONDAY NIGHT, AND THE SEASON ENDED AT 4 AND 16.
HIS SON, A SENIOR, PLAYED ON THE TEAM THIS YEAR.   CHAD GRADUATED
FROM MAQUOKETA AND PLAYED BASKETBALL UNDER COACH BILL
FLEMMING.    WE  HAVE HAD BOTH CHAD AND AN EARLIER HEAD COACH THAT DID NOT TEACH, AND WAS NOT WITH THE PLAYERS AND STUDENT BODY
DURING SCHOOL HOURS.   MANY BELIEVE THAT IS DETRIMENTAL TO
THE PROGRAM.     HIS RESIGNATION WAS A SURPRISE AS HE WAS A GOOD
COACH AND LIKED COACHING.

HIGH SCHOOL SPORTS...... NOT LIKE THEY USED TO BE!    MORE
CHOICES LIKE SOCCER AND BOWLING  AND OTHER "HIGH TECH"
THINGS TO DO.    SMART PHONES?   TEXTING!    X BOXES!
I NEVER WAS AN ATHLETE IN HIGH SCHOOL IN THE 50'S....WORKED....AND KEPT HAULING FRIENDS WITH MY BLACK '47 CHEVY.     BUT WE WENT TO
ALMOST EVERY HIGH SCHOOL GAME AND CHEERED FOR THE MARSHMEN!

THE  JACKSON COUNTY 5-YEAR ROAD PLAN WILL BE DISCUSSED AT
A MEETING AT 7 TONIGHT AT CITY HALL.     IOWA GOVERNOR BRANSTAD SIGNED NEW LEGISLATION YESTERDAY TO RAISE THE GAS TAX 10-CENTS.
