FRIDAY IT RAINED, BUT REST OF WEEKEND WAS NICE. NICE DAY TODAY, BUT MORE RAIN EXPECTED TOMORROW AND TOMORROW NIGHT. THEN THE REST OF THE WEEK SHOULD BE OKAY.

THE CLINTON COUNTY FAIR IS THIS WEEK WEDNESDAY THROUGH SUNDAY AT THE FAIRGROUNDS IN DEWITT.

SATURDAY NIGHT, THE MAQUOKETA GIRLS HIGH SCHOOL SOFTBALL TEAM, IN TOURNAMENT PLAY, DEFEATED ANAMOSA 1 TO 0 IN 11 INNINGS.
JUNIOR HAILEY BICKFORD HAD A WALK-OFF SINGLE DRIVING IN SHANNON DURELLE WITH THE ONLY RUN OF THE GAME. BICKFORD WAS ALSO DOMINANT ON THE MOUND, THROWING A ONE-HIT SHUT OUT. SHE RETIRED THE FIRST 28 BATTERS SHE FACED. MAQUOKETA IS NOW 27 AND 10 AND RANKED 14TH IN CLASS 3-A. TONIGHT, THEY PLAY A REGIONAL SEMI-FINAL GAME WHEN THEY FACE 6TH RANKED DAVENPORT ASSUMPTION AT DEWITT. ASSUMPTION IS 23 AND 7.
