TOMORROW WILL BE NICER BUT SUNDAY, A GOOD CHANCE OF RAIN.

TWO ACCIDENTS NEAR WELTON THIS MORNING AND ONE DRIVER IS
IN CRITICAL CONDITION AT IOWA CITY.
AROUND  9 A.M. THE SHERIFF'S OFFICE WAS CALLED TO HIGHWAY 61  JUST SOUTH OF WELTON.    THERE, A 2 VEHICLE ACCIDENT.    ROSEMARY CRAWFORD, AGE NOT IN NEWS RELEASE, WAS DRIVING A 2009 FORD
FOCUS SOUTH BOUND AND STRUCK THE REAR OF A GRAIN TRUCK DRIVEN
BY THOMAS DIERCKS OF GRAND MOUND.    CRAWFORD WAS TAKEN TO THE
GENESIS HOSPITAL AND HER CONDITION IS NOT AVAILABLE.    THE TRUCK DRIVER WAS NOT INJURED.
SHORTLY AFTER, ANOTHER CRASH HAPPENED A HALF-MILE SOUTH.
A CAR STRUCK THE BACK OF A SEMI AS TRAFFIC WAS SLOWING OR STOPPED FOR THE CRASH AHEAD.    THE DRIVER OF THAT JACKSON COUNTY CAR WAS TAKEN FROM THE SCENE BY MEDFORCE HELICOPTER.
HER NAME WAS NOT RELEASED.

MORE TROUBLE WITH HUMAN WASTE BEING DUMPED INTO THE DITCH ON THE CITY STREET PAST THE FAMILY DOLLAR DISTRIBUTION CENTER SOUTH OF MAQUOKETA.   THIS  AFTER DISCUSSION BY THE CITY COUNCIL, IT WAS
DECIDED TO PUT UP 4 BY 8 SIGNS.    DON'T KNOW WHAT THE SIGNS WILL
SAY BUT THE COUNCIL WANTS SIGNS THAT WILL BE BLUNT,  STERNLY WORDED, ABOUT THE ISSUE OF NOT DUMPING.   THE PROBLEM IS CAUSED BY TRUCK DRIVERS WAITING TO LOAD OR UNLOAD AT THE FACILITY.
CITY CREWS HAVE BEEN PICKING UP THE WASTE.   THE CITY COULD PUT
UP "NO PARKING"  SIGNS, BUT THAT WOULD MOVE THE PROBLEM TO
ANOTHER PLACE.    TRUCK DRIVERS CAN USE REST ROOMS AT WAL MART
OR THE TRUCK STOP.

THIS IS FREE FISHING WEEKEND IN IOWA.

FLAPJACK RESTAURANT CELEBRTED ITS 30TH ANNIVERSARY THIS
WEEK.    THE RESTAURANT WAS ACTUALLY BUILDT 40 YEARS AGO

THE NEWLY-PAVED CITY PARKING LOT ON THE EAST SIDE OF MAQUOKETA'S MAIN BLOCK HAS BEEN FINISHED.   TODAY LINES WERE PAINTED AND CARS
STARTED PARKING IN IT THIS AFTERNOON.   LOOKS VERY GOOD!
A BIG  IMPROVEMENT!    NOW  "PERXACTLY BAR AND GRILL"  IS SUROUNDED BY A NEW PARKING LOT AND IT COST THEM NOTHING.
