TUESDAY DAILY REPORT

NICE DAY...COOL...HIGH OF 72.
SUNNY AND WARMER TOMORROW, HIGH OF 75.
THURSDAY, SUNNY AND 79.
A CHANCE OF RAIN FRIDAY AND MOSTLY CLOUDY WITH HIGH OF ONLY 73.
WEEKEND SHOULD BE PRETTY GOOD.

KURT ULLRICH OF RURAL MAQUOKETA IS A PHOTOGRAPHER  WHO HAS
HAD HIS EXHIBITS DISPLAYED IN IOWA AND OUTSIDE THE STATE.
HIS EXHIBIT "THE IOWA STATE FAIR" STARTED AT THE OLD CAPITOL
MUSEUM IN IOWA CITY AND IS ENDING SOON AFTER FIFTEEN MONTHS
AT THE DUBUQUE MUSEUM OF ART.    HIS PHOTOGRAPHS HAVE APPEARED
IN THE BOSTON GLOBE, WASHINGTON POST, CHICAGO TRIBUNE, DES MOINES REGISTER AND OTHER NEWSPAPERS.   THROUGH HIS BLACK AND
WHITE IMAGES, ULLRICH CAPTURES THE MAGIC OF THE OFTEN OVERLOOKED DETAILS THAT GIVE MEANING TO ORDINARY LIFE.     NOW A NEW EXHIBIT IS ABOUT TO OPEN AT THE OLD CAPITOL MUSEUM IN
DOWNTOWN IOWA CITY, TITLED "I AM EVERYDAY PEOPLE:   PHOTOGRAPHS BY KURT ULLRICH".  IT WILL OPEN IN THE HANSON HUMANTIES GALLERY
ON SEPTEMBER 3 AND BE THERE THROUGH JANUARY 3.   AN OPENING
RECEPTION WILL BE  HELD FROM 5 UNTIL 7 P.M. ON SEPTEMBER 3.
A NUMBER OF MAQUOKETA PEOPLE ARE PICTURED IN THE 45 PHOTOS,
INCLUDING POSTAL EMPLOYEE TOM DRAUS, FARMER WAYNE SCHEPERS,
FLORIST WENDY MEADE,  FUNERAL HOME DIRECTOR RON RATH,
CONSTRUCTION OWNER DAVE STOCKHAM, SHERIFF RUSS KETTMAN AND
SERVICE STATION OWNER BILL BOWMAN.

BEFORE THE LaMOTTE NARROW GUAGE RAILROAD DEPOT COULD BE MOVED TO MAQUOKETA EARLIER THIS SUMMER, THE ROOF FOR THE TRANSPORT HAD TO BE REMOVED.    NOW, THE ROOF NEEDS MAJOR REPAIRS.   IT HAS BEEN DECIDED THAT IT SHOULD BE RE-ROOFED WITH WOODEN SHINGLES TO  REPLICATE THE ORIGINAL BUILDING.    A FISH FRY FUNDRAISER HAS BEEN SCHEDULE TO RAISE MONEY TO HELP DEFRAY THE COST OF THE SHINGLES.     THE FUNDRAISER WILL BE HELD AT THE CLINTON ENGINES MUSEUM AND PARKING LOT (THE DEPOT IS ADJACENT TO THE LOT) ON SUNDAY, AUGUST 30TH.    FISH FRY MEALS WILL BE SERVED BOTH
INSIDE AND OUTSIDE IN A TENT.     THERE WILL BE TWO PARTS.   A PRESENTATION BY DAVID KENDELL ON THE BELLEVUE & CASCADE
NARROW GUAGE RAILROAD WILL START AT 4 P.M. AND THE DINNER AT 5 P.M. CONSISTING OF TILAPIA WITH CHIPS, BAKED POTATO, COLE SLAW, ROLL,
BEVERAGE AND DESSERT.     TICKETS ARE $9.00 IN ADVANCE AND WILL BE $10 AT THE DOOR.       TICKETS CAN BE PURCHASEDD IN ADVANCE AT BOTH
JACKSON COUNTY HISTORICAL SOCIETY MUSEUMS AND FROM BOARD MEMBERS.     CHILDREN AGES 2-5 TICKETS ARE $5.

JACKSON COUNTY CONSERVATION BOARD STAFF AND VOLUNTEERS COMPLETED WORK LAST WEEK ON A FOOT BRIDGE OVER SANBORN CREEK AT THE NEW PRAIRIE CREEK PARK AT THE EAST EDGE OF MAQUOKETA.
THE 36 FOOT BRIDGE IS OFF 223RD AVENUE ON THE SIDE OF THE PARK AND WILL GIVE PARK USERS ACCESS TO THE EXISTING TRAIL SYSTEM.  
ACCORDING TO JACKSON COUNTY CONSERVATION BOARD EXECUTIVE
DIRECTOR DARYL PARKER, THE MAQUOKETA KIWANIS CLUB ALSO HELPED COMPLETE THE PROJECT AND THAT A BRIDGE DEDICAITION IS PLANNED FOR SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 12TH AT 10 A.M.

THE CODFISH HOLLOW BARN WILL HOST "HELLOGOODBYE" THIS THURSDAY NIGHT, AUGUST 27TH, PRESENTING THE 4onthefloor, JOSIAH, JANE DECKER, LIZA ANNE AND SAMUEL PROFITT.    DOORS OPEN AT 5 P.M. WITH MUSIC AT 7.
TICKETS ARE $20 IN ADVANCE AND $30 AT THE DOOR.    FREE PARKING WITH HAYRACK RIDES TO AND FROM THE BARN AND FREE CAMPING IN THE COW PASTURE IS AVAILABLE.     FOOD AND ALCOHOLIC AND NON-ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES WILL BE AVAILABLE.   THEY COME FROM ALL OVER FOR THESE
