WEDNESDAY DAILY

MAY BEEF MONTH ...  AND FAREWAY STORES NEW SEMI IS ON THE ROAD PROMOTING BEEF.     THERE ARE OVER 100 FAREWAY STORES AND MAQUOKETA
HAS HAD ONE SINCE THE 1960'S.     IT WILL BE COVERING A 5-STATE AREA.





























SUNDAY, THE  LOCAL PITCH HIT AND RUN SECTIONAL COMPETITION WAS HELD
AT CROW CREEK PARK IN BETTENDORF.  
THE GIRL WINNERS WERE:   KENLYNN LeROY,  JUSTICE ARMBRUSTER,  SERENITY
HEINRICH AND TRINITY HEINRICH.
THE BOY WINNERS WERE:   LUCAS SCHUELLER,  JADEN FITZPATRICK, JACE
ARMBRUSTER AND KYE COAKLEY.
MAQUOKETA HAD 5 FIRST PLACE WINNERS:     JUSTICE,  SERENITY,  TRINITY,  JADEN, AND KYE.   THEY HAVE TO WAIT TO SEE IF THEIR SCORES WILL ALLOW THEM
TO ADVANCE TO THE NEXT ROUND OF COMPETITION.



MONDAY, SHORTLY AFTER SCHOOL LEFT OUT,  THERE WAS A BOMB THREAT
AT THE HIGH SCHOOL.   IT WAS WRITTEN ON A BATHROOM WALL.
THE NEXT DAY A STUDENT AND FATHER CAME TO THE SCHOOL AND THE  STUDENT
DID CONFESS TO THE THREAT.    THIS MORNING, IT WAS FIRST THOUGHT
THERE HAD BEEN ANOTHER THREAT AND SO THE HIGH SCHOOL WAS EVACUATED.
BUT FURTHER INVESTIGATION FOUND THERE WAS NOT A THREAT.    THE PROBLEM THIS MORNING DID HAVE TO DO WITH  THE SUSPECT OF MONDAY AND HE WAS
ASKED TO COME TO THE LAW CENTER FOR AN INTERVIEW WITH  POLICE.   THE
MAQUOKETA HIGH SCHOOL SENIOR WAS THEN CHARGED WITH THREAT OF TERRORISM,  A CLASS  D  FELONY AND WILL SEE A JUDGE TOMORROW.     THE STUDENT HAS NOW BEEN IDENTIFIED AS IRA LUCKIE JOHNSON, AGE 18, OF MAQUOKETA.    HIS NAME WAS RELEASED THIS AFTERNOON BY POLICE CHIEF BRAD KORANDA.
