THURSDAY DAILY

THE FINAL CONNECTING PIECE OF STEEL WAS INSTALLED TODAY.    IOWA AND ILLINOIS FINALLY LINKED,  WITH THE NEW SAVANNA-SABULA BRIDGE.
THERE IS A CHRISTMAS TREE AND U.S. FLAG AT THE TOP.   THIS
PHOTO FROM THE ILLINOIS SIDE.   BEHIND THE NEW BRIDGE, THE OLD ONE STILL BEING USED.   THE NEW ONE SET TO OPEN LATER THIS YEAR.

A LONGTIME RESIDENT OF MAQUOKETA DIED YESTERDAY.    REGINA SAGERS, AGE 104.    LATER TODAY OR TOMORROW, THERE SHOULD BE A
PHOTO AND PENDING OBITUARY AT CARSON CELEBRATION OF LIFE
CENTER FUNERAL HOME IN MAQUOKETA.   I FIRST MET HER IN 1958 WHEN I
MOVED TO MAQUOKETA IN AUGUST AND  RENTED A ROOM FROM HER
MOTHER-IN-LAW, CECELIA SAGERS.   REGINA WAS A GRAND LADY.
SURVIVED BY A DAUGHTER AND GRANDCHILDREN.
