A FORMER MAQUOKETA RESIDENT FACES SEVEN CHARGES IN MAGISTRATE
COURT AFTER BEING ARRESTED AROUND 1:30 THIS MORNING AT K.J.'S
CONVENIENCE AND DELI ON WEST PLATT.       POLICE SERGEANT BRENDAN ZEIMET WAS DOING A ROUTINE BUSINESS CHECK WHEN HE DISCOVERED
UNUSUAL ACTIVITY BEHIND K.J.'S.    BRIAN RAMM, AGE 29, IS ACCUSED OF BREAKING INTO A COOLER AND USING A KNIFE TO TRY AND ENTER THE REAR DOOR OF THE BUSINESS.   HE WAS CHARGED WITH BURGLARY IN THE 3RD DEGREE, PLUS OTHER CHARGES AND WAS PLACED IN THE JACKSON COUNTY DETENTION CENTER.    HE MADE AN INITIAL COURT APPEARANCE THIS MORNING AND THEN WAS RETURNED TO JAIL PENDING FURTHER
COURT ACTION.

ANGIE SPANNAGEL, KATHY SEYFERT AND TRISHA MANTHEI ARE THE
NEW MEMBERS OF THE MAQUOKETA CHAMBER OF COMMERCE BOARD,
REPLACING CHUCK CURRENTN, JOSH SMITH AND NICOLE NOTZ.
HOLDOVER MEMBERS ARE FRED HARE, BETH GERLACH, WES MERRYMAN,
DR. BRADLEY YOUNG AND DR. ADRIENNE KANE.

IN BUSINESS NEWS, WENDY SCOTT,  OWNER OF RONANN'S FLORAL SHOP
ON HIGHWAY 64 WEST, MAQUOKETA, INFORMED KMAQ THAT AFTER NEARLY 61 YEARS IN THE SAME LOCATION, SHE WILL BE MOVING THE BUSINESS TO A NEW BUILDING ON WHAT IS NOW AN EMPTY LOT JUST EAST OF TACO
JOHN'S RESTAURANT ON WEST PLATT.    CONSTRUCTION OF THE NEW
45 BY 60  FOOT BUILDING WILL BEGIN EARLY THIS SPRING AFTER THE
FROST IS OUT OF THE GROUND.    SHE HOPES TO BE MOVED INTO THE
NEW BUILDING SOMETIME THIS FALL.     THE BUSINESS STARTED IN 1955
BY HER LATE PARENTS, RON AND ANITA MEADE.   WENDY TOLD KMAQ
SHE IS VERY EXCITED ABOUT THE NEW BUILDING AND LOCATION AND THE OPPORTUNITY TO SERVE BOTH LONGTIME CUSTOMERS AND NEW ONES FROM THE NEW FACILITY.    THE PRESENT SIGHT OF THE BUSINESS HAS BEEN FOR SALE FOR SOMETIME AND REMAINS FOR SALE AT THIS TIME.
