AREA IS  ABOVE NORMAL PRECIPITATION AT THIS TIME OF THE YEAR.
JACKSON AND CLINTON COUNTIES RECEIVED THE  HIGHEST RAINFALLS
IN THE STATE THE LAST 3 WEEKS.    IN BELLEVUE, 9.64 INCHES OF RAIN
WAS RECORDED OVER A 3-WEEK PERIOD IN JUNE AND 10.10 INCHES
RECORDED IN LOST NATION.     THE STATE-WIDE AVERAGE WAS 4.81 INCHES FROM JUNE 2ND TO  JUNE 23RD.

TONIGHT, NO RAIN.

THE LARGEST MINIATURE RODEO SHOW IN THE WORLD IS COMING TO THE JACKSON COUNTY FAIR ON JULY 29TH.    EVERYTHING FROM BUCKING BULLS, TO BAREBACK RIDING AND BARREL RACING AND MORE.    THE RODEO FEATURES CHILDREN OF ALL AGES RIDING AND RACING THROUGH THE DIRT.     IT WILL BE PUT ON IN FRONT OF THE GRANDSTAND RIGHT
AFTER THE WEDNESDAY NIGHT PARADE, AT ABOUT 8:30.

DOROTHY LAMAR, AGE 86, OF OLATHE, KANSAS AND FORMERLY OF
MAQUOKETA, DIED FRIDAY AT A NURSING HOME IN OLATHE.   SHE IS
SURVIVED BY TWO SONS, DAN AND ROCKY AND 2 GRANDCHILDREN.
THERE WILL BE A BURIAL SERVICE IN MAQUOKETA AT MT. HOPE CEMETERY
AT 10 A.M. SATURDAY, JULY 11TH.

LAST NIGHT, THE DEWITT AND MAQUOKETA BOYS BASEBALL GAME AT
DEWITT WAS POSTPONED IN THE 8TH INNING BECAUSE OF LIGHTNING.
IT WILL BE FINISHED TONIGHT.
THE GIRLS GAME ALSO WAS POSTPONED (UNTIL NEXT TUESDAY) WITH
MAQUOKETA OUT IN FRONT, 6 TO 0.

THE LUNCH ON THE DAIRY FARM SUNDAY WAS A HUGE SUCCESS WITH OVER 800 ATTENDING.   THE LINE ABOVE WAS ONE OF 4 ON DIFFERENT ROADS, BUT THEY DID HAVE TWO OR THREE WAGONS TO GIVE PEOPLE A LIFT TO THE FARM WHERE THE FREE LUNCH WAS BEING SERVED AND WHERE PEOPLE COULD LOOK OVER THE MOORE DAIRY FARM AND LEARN ABOUT THE DAIRY BUSINESS.   THIS EVENT HELD EVERY JUNE TO HELP CELEBRATE JUNE DAIRY MONTH AND IS SPONSORED BY THE CLINTON-JACKSON DAIRY ASSOCIATION.  
THE ABOVE AD FROM MY 1945

THE AUCTION BARN OFF PERSHING ROAD AT THE NORTH EDGE OF MAQUOKETA HAS BEEN
PAINTED.   LOOKS GOOD.   WONDER WHAT  THE
PLANS FOR IT ARE?   I WILL LET YOU KNOW IF I HEAR ANYTHING.


BECAUSE JULY 4TH FALLS ON A SATURDAY THIS YEAR...FRIDAY JULY 3RD, WILL BE A HOLIDAY FOR THE CITY OF MAQUOKETA AND CITY HALL WILL BE CLOSED.

THE CLINTON COUNTY AREA SOLID WASTE AGENCY ANNOUNCED LAST WEEK THAT THE AGENCY WILL BE CLOSED SATURDAY AND ON FRIDAY, JULY 3RD, WILL RUN A SATURDAY SCHEDULE AND WILL BE OPEN FROM 7:30 A.M. UNTIL 12 NOON.

THERE MAY BE OTHER BUSINESS PLACES AND PUBLIC PLACES THAT WILL BE CLOSED THIS FRIDAY.    IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO ADD TO THIS LIST, JUST EMAIL ME AT kmaq@kmaq.com.

COOL, CLOUDY AND A FEW SPRINKLES TODAY,  IN LOW 70'S.
SUNNY AND WARMER TOMORROW.

NOTHING NEW ON EXPLOSION TODAY.    VICTIM FUNERAL SERVICES ARE PENDING AT CARSON CELEBRATION OF LIFE IN MAQUOKETA.

THE MAQUOKETA VOLUNTEER FIRE DEPARTMENT IS HAVING A BLOOD
DRIVE AT THE FIRE STATION FROM 6:30 TO 10:30 TOMORROW MORNING.
WE HAVE A LOT OF BLOOD DRIVES IN THE KMAQ, BUT NEVER TOO
MANY.

BEAU BOWMAN HAS JOINED THE DEWITT OBSERVER STAFF.   THE 2015 MCHS GRADUATE (SON OF SEN. TOD AND RENEE') WILL BE THEIR SUMMER
INTERN AND WILL ATTEND THE UNIVERSITY OF IOWA THIS FALL.

2013 MCHS GRAD TY THEDE (SON OF TROY AND RAEANN OF MAQUOKETA)
HAS BEEN ACCEPTED TO THE U.S. AIR FORCE ACADEMY IN COLORADO SPRINGS.   HE LEAVES THE AIR FORCE TO BECOME A STUDENT.  
THOUSANDS APPLY AND HE WAS ONE OF 1,190 TO MAKE IT.   HE PLANS TO BECOME A PILOT.    HE'S A VERY GOOD GOLFER TOO.    WHO KNOWS, HE
MAY MAKE THE COLLEGE TEAM.

BASEBALL LAST NIGHT, MARION DEFEATED MAQUOKETA 2 TO 1 AND 5 TO 0.
SOFTBALL LAST NIGHT, MT. VERNON DEFEATED MAQUOKETA 2 TO 1 AND 16 TO 13.

LIKE TO GO INTO BUSINESS IN MAQUOKETA?   THE DECKER HOTEL IS
FOR SALE AT A VERY REASONABLE PRICE.    EMAIL ME AND I COULD
GET YOU SOME INFORMATION.    THE DECKER IS KMAQ'S NEIGHBOR

THURSDAY DAILY REPORT

MOSTLY SUNNY AND WARM TODAY.    NEAR 80  DEGREES.
NICE FRIDAY, SATURDAY AND SUNDAY COMING UP.

A JACKSON COUNTY MAN WAS KILLED IN AN EXPLOSION THAT LEVELED HIS
HOME TO THE GROUND AT JUST AFTER 4:30 THIS MORNING.   THE JACKSON COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE RECEIVED A CALL AT 4:40 A.M. FROM PER MAR SECURITY REPORTING THE FIRE AND  MOTION DETECTOR ALARMS IN MULTIPLE ZONES OF THE HOUSE.    THE PER MAR CALL GAVE THE ADDRESS AS 2236  312TH AVENUE, JACKSON COUNTY.  BOTH THE PRESTON AND
MILES FIRE DEPARTMENTS WERE DISPATCHED TO THE SCENE. UPON
ARRIVAL FIRMEN OBSERVED THE HOUSE HAD BEEN DESTROYED.   WHILE
SHUTTING THE GAS OFF AT THE ADDRESS, DEPUTIES HEAR AN INVIVIDUAL
CALLING FOR HELP FROM THE BASEMENT FOUNDATION.    JACKSON COUNTY
DEPUTY COREY KETTMAN AND PRESTON FIREMAN LUCAS SCHMIDT ENTERED THE BASEMENT AREA AND LOCATED THE OCCUPANT, STEPHEN WALTER BRANDENBURG, AGE 73, OF THAT ADDRESS.    BRANDENBURG
WAS EXTRICATED FROM THE FOUNDATION BY MEMBERS OF THE PRESTON AND MILES FIRE DEPARMENT AND THEN TRANSPORTED BRANDENBURG TO T HE JACKSON COUNTY REGIONAL MEDICAL CENTER IN MAQUOKETA.
BRANDENBURG WS THEN AIRLIFTED TO THE UNIVERSITY OF IOWA HOSPITALS AND CLINIC WEHRE HE DIED FROM HIS INJURIES.
THE FIRE MARSHAL'S OFFICE  IS INVESTIGATING AND THE OFFICIAL CAUSE HAS NOT BEEN ANNOUNCED, BUT BASED ON THE DAMAGE AND DEBRIS TRAIL,AN EXPLOSION IS RESPONSIBLE.
KMAQ EARLY THIS MORNING GOT A CALL FROM ROGER STEWART, A NEIGHBOR TO BRANDENBURG DRAINAGE, INC., STATING THAT HE HEARD A VERY LOUD EXPLOSION AND WHEN DRIVING BY THE BRANDENBURG HOME, SAW THAT THE HOUSE WAS COMPLETELY LEVELED.
ASSISTING AT THE SCENE WERE THE PRESTON FIRE DEPARTMENT,  THE MILES FIRE DEPARTMENT,  PRESTON AMBULANCE,  JACKSON COUNTY REGIONAL MEDICAL CENTER AMBULANCE, THE JACKSON COUNTY
SHERIFF'S DEPARTMENT, JACKSON COUNTY EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT AND THE IOWA STATE FIRE MARSHALL'S OFFICE.
AGAIN....AUTHORITIES THURSDAY  AFTERNOON ISSUED A RELEASE STATING THAT STEPHEN WALTER BRANDENBURG, AGE 73, OF RURAL PRESTON, IS THE MAN WHO DIED AS A RESULT OF THE EXPLOSION.

THE UNEMPLOYMENT RATES IN THE KMAQ LISTENING AREA CONTINUE
TO FALL FOR THE 2ND STRAIGHT MONTH.   JACKSON COUNTY IN
MAY HAD A RATE OF 3.6%, DOWN FROM 4.0% IN APRIL AND DOWN
FROM 4.6% LAST MAY LAST YEAR.

SHARON ELLENZ, AGE 68, OF MAQUOKETA AND FORMERLY OF WINONA, MINNESTOA, DIED LAST WEDNESDAY, JUNE 17TH, AT UNIVERSITY OF IOWA HOSPITAL IN IOWA CITY.     SHE IS SURVIVED BY HER HUSBAND, FRANK, WHO IS THE PUBLIC WORKS DIRECTOR FOR THE CITY OF MAQUOKETA.   ALSO SURVIVING, TWO SONS AND ONE DAUGHTER AND 5 GRANDCHILDREN.      THE FUNERAL WILL BE NEXT MONDAY AT THE BASILICA IN WINONA.    VISITATION WILL BE THIS SUNDAY FROM 1  UNTIL 4 P.M. AT THE WATKOWSKI-MULYCK FUNERAL HOME IN WINONA AND BURIAL WILL BE IN ST. MARY'S CEMETERY AT WINONA.   THREE YEARS AGO, WHEN SHE AND HER HUSBAND MOVED TO MAQUOKETA, SHE RETIRED FROM THE WINONA COUNTY SHERIFF'S DEPARTMENT WHERE SHE WAS A DISPATACHER FOR 25 YEARS.

AT THE HOSPITAL BOARD MEETING LAST YESTERDAY, THE BOARD APPROVED A CAPITAL AND OPERATING BUDGET FOR FISCAL YEAR 2016.
HOSPITAL C.E.O. CURT COLEMAN CALLED IT A VERY GOOD BUDGET WHICH PROJECTS AN 8.4% INCREASE IN REVENUE FOR THE YEAR, WITH
THE TOTAL PROJECTED AT $14,622,974.
TOTAL EXPENSES EXPECTED TO INCREASE TO $14,423,718, A 5.3%
INCREASE, MAINLY FROM SALARIES AND $114,000 INCREASE IN INSURANCE
PREMIUMS.
THE HOSPITAL ANTICIPATES HAVING JUST OVER $19 MILLION IN CASH ON
HAND BY THE END OF THIS FISCAL YEAR.
AND AT THE MEETING, THE BOARD APPROVED THE TRANSFER OF ABOUT
$350,000 TO THE HOSPITAL AUXILIARY, WHICH WILL BE  USED TO ESTABLISH AUXILIARY SCHOLARSHIPS.    THE MONEY IS FROM THE MELBA KUNDE ESTATE.   THE GIFT STIPULATED SCHOLARSHIPS FOR CONTINUING EDUCATION, TO BE GRANTED BY THE AUXILIARY.  
DWAIN TRENKAMP OF MAQUOKETA THIS MONTH CELEBRATED 40 YEARS
WITH U.S. BANK.   HE IS THE TOP MAN AT THE DOWNTOWN BANK, HAVING
STARTED WITH IT WHEN IS WAS THE JACKSON STATE SAVINGS BANK.
THERE HAVE BEEN A COUPLE OTHER NAME CHANGES BEFORE IT BECAME A
U.S. BANK.    HE AND HIS WIFE LIVE ON THOMAS AVENUE, AND HE IS
A MEMBER OF THE MAQUOKETA ROTARY CLUB AND FOR MANY YEARS,
HAS BEEN THE CO-CHAIRMAN OF THE CHRISTMAS "STAR" PROGRAM IN
THE CITY.    NO, HE IS NOT RETIRING.

CARLOS FOUST, AGE 84, OF ZWINGLE, DIED SUNDAY.    SURIVIVORS INCLUDE
A DAUGHTER IN MAQUOKETA, KAREN TILL.    THE FUNERAL IS FRIDAY AND LEONARD FUNERAL HOME IN DUBUQUE IS IN CHARGE OF ALL
ARRANGEMENTS.

IN SPORTS, LAST NIGHT, THE NORTHEAST BOYS DEFEATED MAQUOKETA 18 TO 1.    THE CARDINALS RECORD NOW IS 3 AND 19.
SOLON DEFEATED THE GIRLS SOFTBALL TEAM, 12 TO 0 AND 13 TO 1.
THE  CARDINALS ARE NOW 13 AND 9.

MAQUOKETA IS FORTUNATE TO HAVE A REALLY GOOD CAMP FOR KIDS.   IT IS
LOCATED A FEW MILES FROM TOWN ON THE CAVES ROAD.     TOM BLEY
ABOVE IS  THE DIRECTOR.    HE IS A FELLOW ROTARIAN AND SPOKE AT THE
MEETING TODAY ABOUT HOW IT CHANGES THE LIVES OF KIDS EACH SUMMER.    IF YOU HAVE CHILDREN OR GRANDCHILDREN, I SUGGEST YOU
VISIT THE CAMP SOMETIME.   SOMEONE WILL GIVE YOU A TOUR AND
BROCHURES WITH COMPLETE INFORMATION.    IT IS OPEN TO ALL KIDS
AND THAT INCLUDES THOSE WITHOUT FINANCIAL MEANS TO ATTEND CAMP.

ABOVE, GAIL STODDARD AT THE CHECKOUT COUNTER.    GAIL IS FROM MAQUOKETA AND LISA IS FROM MILES.
GAIL AND LISA HAVE THEIR OWN  FOR SALE THINGS IN THE STORE.    AND THE REST ARE CONSIGNED.    1/  A CONSIGNOR CAN HAVE A DESIGNATED SPACE FOR MERCHANDISE AT A CERTAIN FEE.    2/  IF UNDER THE SIZE OF A CHAIR, AN INDIVIDUAL ITEM(S) CAN BE  SOLD AT A FEE.....OR  3/ OVER THE SIZE OF A CHAIR, THE FEE TO SELL YOUR ITEM(S) IS A PERCENTAGE OF THE SALE PRICE.      SO, A GREAT WAY FOR PEOPLE TO MAKE SOME MONEY WITHOUT HAVING THEIR OWN STORE.

MONDAY DAILY REPORT

RAIN AND STORMS TODAY IN EASTERN IOWA, STARTING EARLY THIS
MORNING.    DELAWARE AND  DUBUQUE COUNTY EARLY HAD HIGH WINDS
AND SOME DAMAGE AND LOTS OF RAIN.      BELLEVUE GOT THE FIRST
HEAVY RAIN IN JACKSON COUNTY.     THE BELLEVUE GOLF COURSE
HAD TO CLOSE.
JACKSON COUNTY WAS UNDER A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH ALL MORNING.
NO HIGH WINDS BUT A LOT OF RAIN.
LATE THIS AFTERNOON, ANOTHER BAD STORM WENT THROUGH CLINTON
COUNTY ALONG HIGHWAY 30,  LARGE HAIL TOO.
72 THE HIGH TODAY.
MORE RAIN TONIGHT.
THEN TOMORROW ANOTHER BEAUTIFUL DAY.
BACK TO RAIN ON WEDNESDAY.    AND THAT'S THE WAY IT HAS BEEN GOING
FOR A LONG TIME.

SATURDAY RAIN HURT A LOT, BUT EVERYTHING WENT ON AS SCHEDULED.
THE WOODCARVERS ENDED THEIR CONFERENCE WITH GOOD ATTENDANCE
SATURDAY AND THE LAST DAY SUNDAY.   THE TIMBER CITY ADVENTURE
RACE WENT ON AS SCHEDULED, BUT RAIN PROBABLY CUT DOWN ON
PARTICIPANTS.     THE TASTE OF MAQUOKETA FOODFEST WAS HELD FROM
11 UNTIL 2 AND I WAS TOLD FEATURED SOME TASTEY FOOD AT  BARGAIN PRICES.      THE FIREMEN'S MUSIC EVENT STARTED WITH RAIN AND THEN LATER AS RAIN PAST THROUGH, ATTENDANCE PICKED UP AND A GOOD   TURN OUT (AROUND 500 FOR THE NIGHT) STAYING LATE, UNTIL MUSIC ENDED AROUND MIDNIGHT.    EVERYONE LIKED THE DES MOINES BAND, "STANDING HAMPTON"....AND THEN,  THE FLY-IN BREAKFAST, WITH BEAUTIFUL WEATHER SUNDAY, WAS A BIG SUCCESS.    MORE ABOUT IT INCLUDING SOME PHOTOS BELOW.
ANOTHER BIG WEEKEND COMING UP WITH MAQUOKETA MOTOR MADNESS  CAR SHOW.   MORE LATER THIS WEEK ABOUT IT.    

IN SPORTS....THE BELLEVUE COMET SOFTBALL TOURNAMENT SATURDAY
WAS A GOOD ONE FOR THE CARDINALS.     MAQUOKETA OPENED WITH
A WIN OVER WILTON, THEN A WIN OVER BELLEVUE MARQUETTE AND
IN THE CHAMPIONSHIP GAME,  MAQUOKETA WAS LEADING 4 TO 0
AT THE TIME THE RAIN CAME.

CARDINAL GAMES SCHEDULED FOR TONIGHT WERE POSTPONED.

SUNSHINE FLY-IN FATHERS DAY BREAKFAST

OVER 500 ATTENDED THE SUNDAY MORNING FATHERS DAY BREAKFAST AT THE MAQUOKETA MUNICIPAL AIRPORT.    A GOOD TURNOUT AND SUNSHINE
DIRECTOR HEATHER MOORE AND THE STAFF AND BOARD THANK YOU IF
YOU ATTENDED.   THE WEATHER AFTER A LITTLE FOG IN THE MORNING,
WAS NEARLY PERFECT.     AIRPORT RIDES WERE GIVEN AT $25 A RIDE
AND THE TWO PLANES WERE BUSY GIVING RIDES.

MATCHING HIS PROPELLER.
THAT'S LINDA MOORE ON THE FAR LEFT...LONGTIME STAFF MEMBER OF
SUNSHINE PRE-SCHOOL AND DAY CARE CENTER, BUT NOW RE-NAMED
SUNSHINE LEARNING CENTER.    ON FAR RIGHT, IS SUNSHINE EXECUTIVE
DIRECTOR HEATHER MOORE.      NO RELATION TO LINDA.    DON'T HAVE NAME
OF THE TWO IN THE MIDDLE.

FUN DAY AT THE AIRPORT!
FATHERS DAY AND THERE WAS SOMETHING FOR DAD TO DO.    PUT TOGETHER THE CARDBOARD AIRPLAINE.   THERE WAS ONE FOR EVERY
KID.

FRIDAY DAILY REPORT

FOR THE SECOND DAY IN A ROW..A HIGH OF 80.  IT WAS A SUPER DAY.
TOMORROW SHOULD ALSO BE GOOD WITH A  HIGH OF 84.
SUNDAY, FATHER'S DAY, MOSTLY SUNNY AND A HIGH OF 84.

AT THE SCHOOL BOARD MEETING THIS WEEK, DISCUSSION ON IMPROVEMENTS AT GOODENOW FIELD.     FIRST, A MASTER PLAN DRAWING WILL BE DONE, AT A COST OF ROUGHLY $25,000.    IT WILL BE COMPLETED
THIS YEAR.  

A NEW DOWNTOWN BUSINESS OPENS TOMORROW....THE PEDDLERS MARKET...LOCATED WHERE HOME INSTEAD WAS UNTIL A COUPLE MONTHS AGO WHEN THEY MOVED TO A BUILDING ACROSS FROM THE LIBRARY.
YEARS AGO, THE CORNER BUILDING DOWNTOWN WAS THE LAW OFFICE
FOR TOM PECKOSH.    THE NEW BUSINESS IS INVOLVED IN THE CONSIGNMENT OF VINTAGE, REFURBISHED AND HANDMADE CRAFTS AND ANTIQUES.   OWNERS ARE GAIL AND GARY STODDARD.   TOMORROW,
OPEN FROM 9 AM TI 7 PM.    THOSE WILL ALSO BE THE REGULAR HOURS,
MONDAY THROUGH SATURDAY.   I WILL HAVE PHOTOS AND MORE INFORMATION NEXT WEEK.

THE MAQUOKETA BOYS BASEBALL TEAMS WON A DOUBLE-HEADER
YESTERDAY OVER CENTER POINT URBANA, 11 TO 1 AND IN EXTRA
INNINGS, 14 TO 13.      THE CARDS ARE NOW 3 - 13 OVERALL.

THE GIRLS SOFTBALL TEAM ALSO WON ANOTHER DH...OVER WILLIAMSBURG....5 TO 1 AND 13 TO 3.    THERE RECORD OVERALL IS
11 AND 7.

BIG DANCE TOMORROW NIGHT IN DOWNTOWN MAQUOKETA, STARTING AT 5:30.   THE CITY WORKERS AND SCHUELLER AND SONS CONSTRUCTION  PUT UP A BIG STAGE ON THE GREEN SPACE TODAY.
COST TO HEAR THE MUSIC OF TWO BANDS, JUST $5.   THE MAQUOKETA
FIRE DEPARTMENT IS THE SPONSOR OF THE EVENT.
THERE WILL ALSO BE A "TASTE OF MAQUOKETA" FOOD AREA, SPOSORED BY THE MAQUOKETA SENTINEL-PRESS AND IT STARTS ALREADY IN THE
AFTERNOON.

SUNSHINE LEARNING CENTER.

WOODCARVERS PHOTOS

WE SPENT AN HOUR-PLUS THIS AFTERNOON JOINING LOTS OF OTHER
VISITORS AT THE PEARSON CENTER ON THE JACKSON COUNTY FAIRGROUNDS WATCHING WOOD CARVING AND LOOKING AT OVER 400
CARVINGS THIS YEAR, FROM AS FAR AWAY ENGLAND.  MOST WERE ENTERED IN THE COMPETITION AND SOME ARE FOR SALE.   PRICES RANGE FROM $50 TO $16,000.   SOME ENTRIES WERE SHIPPED IN TO BE JUDGED.     ONE MAN HERE FOR FIRST TIME FROM UTAH SAID HE GOES TO A SHOW WEST OF  UTAH FOR THE WESTERN PART OF THE COUNTRY,  BUT THIS ONE IS BIGGER AND BETTER.   ALSO HERE THIS WEEK, SOMEONE FROM THE STATE OF VIRGINIA.
THIS IS CAROL LEAVY FROM CLINTON,  IOWA AND PRESIDENT OF THE      AFFILIATED WOODCARVERS OF AMERICA.   IT IS HER ORGANIZATION THAT SPONSORS THE INTERNATIONAL WOODCARVERS CONFERENCE GOING ON ALL THIS WEEK IN MAQUOKETA.    THIS IS THE 5TH YEAR FOR THE SHOW IN MAQUOKETA.   NEXT YEAR WILL BE THEIR 50TH ANNIVERSARY AND IT AGAIN WILL BE HELD IN MAQUOKETA AND CAROL SAYS IT WILL BE A SPECIAL CONFERENCE TO CELEBRATE.    CAROL HAS BEEN A CARVER FOR 9 YEARS
BELOW, HER ENTRY THIS YEAR.
NOTE THE BLACK AND WHITE OLD PHOTO IN LOWER LEFT CORNER.   THAT
IS A PHOTO OF HER GRANDMOTHER AND STEP GRANDFATHER.    SHE
USED THE PHOTO TO MAKE TH E CARVING OF THEM ABOVE.      LOOKS LIKE
A REAL WINNER TO ME, BUT IT GOT 4TH PLACE.

MOST OF THE CARVERS ARE RETIRED SENIORS.   BUT, THERE ARE ALL
AGES, INCLUDING THE 15 YEARS OLD BELOW FROM ILLINOIS.   HIS DAD
IS A CARVER AND HE HAS A YOUNGER BROTHER THAT ALSO CARVES.

PEARSON CENTER IS FILLED.   AND IS DIVIDE INTO THREE AREAS.    WHEN
YOU COME IN THE MAIN ENTRANCE, ON DISPLAY ARE THE COMPLETED
CARVINGS.    HUNDREDS!    DISPLAY IN TABLE GROUPINGS.   LIKE THERE
IS ONE TABLE OR MORE OF ALL BIRDS.   ANOTHER ALL FISH.    ANOTHER
TABLE WITH ALL THE TOP WINNERS.   ETC. ETC.
THEN ANOTHER PART OF THE BUILDING IS FOR THE CARVERS DOING
SOME CARVING.   AND STILL ANOTHER PART OF BUILLDING, BOOTHS THAT
ARE SELLING CARVING TOOLS, ETC. TO THE WOODCARVERS AT THE SHOW.

THESE ARE CARVINGS ON TABLE DONE THIS WEEK.    A "BUST" CARVING LIKE THIS CAN BE DONE IN A WEEKS TIME.
