                                             (Maquoketa Sentinel Press Photo)
GUS GLASER WAS MAQUOKETA CITY MANAGER FROM 1994 TO 1997.   HE
LEFT HERE TO GO TO TIPTON TO BE CITY MANAGER THERE.
HE HAS BEEN BACK IN MAQUOKETA, RETIRED, FOR QUITE A FEW YEARS.
HE OWNED 2 HOMES IN THE SWAGOSA SUBDIVISION, ONE VERY LARGE AND
A SMALLER ONE THAT HE RENTED.   AT ONE TIME, HE OWNED A HOME
IN WASHINGTON D.C.       FOR A FEW  YEARS, HE WAS A MEMBER OF THE
MAQUOKETA ROTARY CLUB AND ABOUT 4 YEARS AGO HELD A CHRISTMAS
PARTY AT THE LARGE HOME WHERE HE LIVED.   I AM A ROTARIAN AND WAS THERE.     I REMEBER, THE HOME WAS "CLUTTERED" WITH ALL KINDS OF "THINGS".   HE LEFT ROTARY ABOUT 3 YEARS AGO.   HE WAS ALSO A MEMBER OF THE BELLEVUE ROTARY CLUB FOR A SHORT TIME.    GUS WOULD VISIT KMAQ OFTEN AS HE PURCHASED LOTS OF CERTIFICATES ON KMAQ'S AUCTION SHOW.    HE WAS IN JUST YESTERDAY TO INQUIRE ABOUT
BUYING SOME POLITICAL SPOTS FOR A CANDIDATE RUNNING IN THIS AREA.
GUS WAS BORN SEPTEMBER 27,1942.     HE ATTENDED IOWA STATE
UNIVERSITY, GETTING BA DEGREE.   LATER GOT A MASTER'S DEGREE.    IN 1964 HE BECAME A MEMBER OF THE IOWA AIR GUARD IN DES MOINES AND ATTENDED VARIOUS AIRFORCE SCHOOLS.    IN THE AIRFORCE,  HE FLEW FIGHTER PLANES AND ACHIEVED THE RANK OF LIEUTENANT COLONEL IN 1984.   GUS NEVER MARRIED.   HIS MOTHER WAS MARGARET AND SHE WAS QUITE ACTIVE IN MAQUOKETA... A MEMBER OF THE UNITED CHURCH OF CHRIST,  THE PYTHIAN SISTERS AND THE DAUGHTERS OF THE AMERICAN REVOLUTION.     HIS FATHER WAS AUBREY GLASER  (HE WAS A FARMER, WORKED ALSO AT ONE TIME AT CLINTON ENGINES  AND WAS A CARPENTER  TOO) AND HE DIED IN 1980.   GUS AND HIS MOTHER TRAVELED TOGETHER A LOT, INCLUDING TO LONDON, ENGLAND  AND WASHINGTON D.C.

  1. I guess that "No Gun" sign on the door only applies to the honest, law abiding, concealed carry permit holders.

  2. A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed ...this is a copy of the permit I use. you can see the permit to use for yourself ..it in the Bill Of Rights...2nd Amendment.

Its an unfortunate series of events and kudos to Loras Koos for his efforts. the other unfortunate thing is I can see the gun grabbers taking the podium. FYI your own sheriff doesn't protect the people of Jackson County .
