SUNNY, NO WIND AND 33 TODAY.
THE WEEKEND WILL BE OKAY, BUT NOT LIKE SPRING SHOULD BE.

MANY, MANY MAQUOKETA STREETS ARE BAD.    ONE, MATTESON, WILL BE RESURFACED THIS YEAR, AT A COST OF $269,564.    AND THAT WAS $20,000
UNDER ESTIMATE.    WORK WILL START AS SOON AS WEATHER PERMITS.
PLANS ARE ALSO PROGRESSING FOR WATER AND ELECTRIC METERS TO BE
JOINTLY READ AT THE SAME TIME.   THE PLAN IS TO GET $600,000 IN WATER
REVENUE BONDS TO PAY FOR THE AUTOMATIC METERING SYSTEM
INCLUDING SOFTWARE.
THE IOWA SENATE RECENTLY PASSED A RESOLUTION OPPOSING THE INTERNATIONAL OLYMPIC COMMITTEE'S DECISION TO EXCLUDE WRESTLING FROM THE 2020 OLYMPIC GAMES.    THE RESOLUTION WAS SPONSORED BY
SENATOR TOD BOWMAN OF MAQUOKETA,  A FORMER HIGH SCHOOL WRESTLING COACH.    ONE OF THE REASONS IOWA WRESTLING IS KNOWN
WORLDWIDE IS THE SUCCESS OF IOWAN DAN GABLE, WHO THE SENATE HONORED ON THE SAME DAY.    AS A WRESTLER FOR IOWA STATE UNIVERSITY, GABLE LOST ONLY ONE MATCH AND WON A GOLD MEDAL IN
THE 1972 OLYMPICS.    HE LATER COACHED THE UNIVERSITY OF IOWA'S
WRESTLING TEAM TO NUMEROUS TITLES.     FROM LEFT TO RIGHT ABOVE,
COACH GABLE AND SENATOR BOWMAN.

IKE'S FISH FRY TOMORROW, DAIRY BANQUET TOMORROW NIGHT, THE "LIVING LAST SUPPER"  TOMORROW NIGHT AT OHNWARD....AND
MAQUOKETA ART EXPERIENCE PROGAM SUNDAY AFTERNOON.....
YOU ARE INVITED TO ALL THIS BUSY WEEKEND IN MAQUOKETA.

HAVE A GOOD WEEKEND.
