PARTLY SUNNY AND WINDY AND HIGH OF ONLY 26 TODAY.

THE MAQUOKETA TRAP TEAM STUDENTS WILL BE ABLE TO EARN A VARSITY LETTER THROUGH MAQUOKETA HIGH SCHOOL.   THEIR  COACH, SCOTT KIRK, TOLD THE MAQUOKETA SCHOOL BOARD LAST WEEK THAT THERE ARE
17 STUDENTS IN THIS YEAR'S PROGRAM.

THE MAQUOKETA FIRE DEPARTMENT RECENTLY HAD THE APPRECIATION
DINNER.      JAMES CONNOLLY WAS PRESENTED WITH THE 2012 MAQUOKETA FIREFIGHTERS MEMORIAL AWARD.     THE AWARD IS GIVEN TO AN OUTSTANDING MEMBER OF THE DEPARTMENT.    THE HONOREE IS CHOSEN
BY DEPARTMENT MEMBERS. 
THREE FIREFIGHTERS RECEIVED SERVICE AWARDS.    THEY ARE:   BOB
LANE, 25 YEARS......DAVID NEUMANN AND MATT TRAVEL WHO BOTH HAVE
COMPLETED 10 YEARS OF SERVICE.
IN A REVIEW OF THE YEAR, FIRE CHIEF MARK BECK SAID THE DEPARTMENT
RESPONDED TO 78 FIRE CALLS LAST YEAR, AN INCREASE FROM 53 CALLS IN 2011 AND A SIMILAR NUMBER IN 2010.
