HAPPY NEW YEAR!

NANCY AND I WENT TO TRUE  FOR NEW YEAR'S EVE DINNER (ENJOYED DINING WITH BOB AND MYRNA LARKEY) AND THEN WE WENT TO THE
OHNWARD FINE ARTS CENTER FOR A GREAT MUSIC SHOW.
TRUE IS AT THE MAQUOKETA COUNTRY CLUB AND THEY HAD A FULL HOUSE
OF 200.   VERY GOOD BUFFET OF CHICKEN AND BEEF AND  CHEESECAKE
FOR DESSERT.    AT OHNWARD....A TRIBUTE TO THE LEGENDS BY
DENNY &  THE DC DRIFTERS.    THE 5 PIECE BAND (4 OF WHICH
SANG) PRESENTED A GREAT, UPBEAT,  NEARLY 3-HOUR SHOW OF 50'S AND
60'S HITS.   AND I'D SAY THERE WERE OVER 700 THERE AND ALL HAD  GOOD
TIME.

THE MAQUOKETA SCHOOL BOARD RECENTLY HIRED TWO PART-TIME
TEACHERS.    GENE SCHAUL AS A PART-TIME MATH TEACHER AT THE
HIGH SCHOOL AND KEVIN FUSS AS A 4/10TH TIME LANGUAGE ARTS
INSTRUCTOR AT THE MIDDLE SCHOOL.

THE SUPERVISORS ARE SEEKING APPLICATIONS FOR A JACKSON COUNTY
CONSERVATION BOARD MEMBER.   GERALD MILLWRIGHT ANNOUNCED HE
WILL NOT SEEK RE-APPOINTMENT TO THE FIVE-YEAR POSITION.
HE HAS SERVED 5 YEARS.    ANYONE INTERESTED SHOULD APPLY SOON
AT THE SUPERVISORS OFFICE.    THIS HAS ALWAYS BEEN A POPULAR BOARD AND I'M SURE THERE WILL BE APPLICANTS.

THE  MAQUOKETA OPTIMIST CLUB  HAD A BUSY DECEMBER.
THEY HOSTED A BREAKFAST FOR THE JOOI/CARDS CLUB AT THE MIDDLE
SCHOOL.    SELECTED PRESENTS FOR EIGHT CHILDREN IN THE
MAQUOKETA CHRISTMAS STAR PROGRAM,  DONATED $250 AND PROVIDED COOKIES, PLUS BAGGED TOYS AND HELPED WITH DISTRIBUTION FOR
CHRISTMAS TOYS FOR TOTS, RANG THE SALVATION ARMY BELL, WRAPPED GIFTS AT THE MAQUOKETA POLICE DEPARTMENT'S SHOP WITH A COP EVENT AND SUPPLIED $250 FOR TREATS FOR THE BREAKFAST WITH SANTA EVENT AT THE MAQUOKETA YMCA.     NICE GOING OPTIMISTS.
THEY MEET AT 7 A.M. WEDNESDAYS AT THE EAGLES CLUB.    NEW MEMBERS ARE ALWAYS WELCOME.    VISIT A MEETING SOME WEDNESDAY MORNING.
TED STRAIT IS THE PRESIDENT.

HAVE A GOOD WEEK.
