VFW MEMBERS AND VFW AUXILIARY MEMBERS WILL BE DISTRIBUTING
VETERAN MADE POPPIES AT THE FAREWAY STORE, THEISEN'S AND
AT WALMART. ANY CONTRIBUTION YOU WOULD LIKE TO MAKE
WILL BE APPRECIATED. PROCEEDS GO BACK TO VETERANS.
THEN..WHEN YOU GET YOUR POPPY....WEAR IT PROUDLY.

CONGRATULATIONS TO NATHAN GJERSTAD! HE'S THE NEW MANAGER
OF CLOVER RIDGE ASSISTANT LIVING PLACE IN MAQUOKETA. HE
REPLACES LYNN POPP WHO RESIGNED TO MOVE TO GRINNELL.
NATHAN HAS BEEN A LIFELONG RESIDENT. HIS DAD WAS A
MAQUOKETA M.D. WHO CAME TO PRACTICE IN MAQUOKETA AFTER
BEING AN M.D. IN VIETNAM. HE DIED AT A YOUNG AGE FROM A
SEVERE MEDICAL PROBLEM. HIS OFFICE AT HIS DEATH WAS
ACROSS THE STREET FROM MY THEATRE. STOP UP AT CLOVER RIDGE
PLACE AND MEET NATHAN AND HE'LL BE HAPPY TO GIVE YOU A TOUR
OF CLOVER RIDGE PLACE, UP ON THE HILL BEHIND TACO JOHN'S.

THE MAQUOKETA SCHOOL DISTRICT ELECTRIC BILLS TWO YEARS AGO IN 2008-2009 TOTALED $196,947. THIS YEAR, $249,802, A 12.6 PERCENT INCREASE OVER THE YEAR 2009-2010. NO WONDER THE SCHOOL BOARD IS LOOKING AT ENERGY EFFICIENCY.

SCHOOL AND THE MIDDLE SCHOOL. SUPT. HUCKSKTADT SAID AT LAST NIGHT'S SCHOOL BOARD MEETING THAT THE DISTRICT CAN ISSUE ABOUT $6.5 MILLION IN REVENUE BONDS BASED ON SALES TAX REVENUES.

POLICE BLOTTER: CHANGE BOXES AT AWESOME CAR WASH ON PLATT STREET WERE
BROKEN INTO OVERNIGHT.
AND CURTIS BROOKS ON N. MATTESON REPORTED YESTERDAY THAT A GO-KART WAS STOLEN.

HEATHER SCHROEDER, AGE 33, OF URBANDALE DIED YESTERDAY AT THE KAVANAUGH
HOSPICE HOUSE IN DES MOINES FROM AN EXTENDED ILLNESS. SHE IS SURVIVED
BY HER HUSBAND, JAY SCHROEDER,FORMERLY OF MAQUOKETA. ALSO SURVIVED
BY AN INFANT SON, WILLIAM, BORN JUNE 28TH AND BY FATHER AND MOTHER-IN-LAW
LOWELL AND BARB SCHROEDER OF MAQUOKETA. SERVICES ARE PENDING AT THE
RANDALL FUNERAL HOME IN CORYDON.
