NICE DAY YESTERDAY, AFTER A RAINY SATURDAY.
TODAY, ANOTHER NICE DAY AND THE ENTIRE WEEK SHOULD BE LIKE THIS.

THE FIRE DEPARTMENT GOT CALLED TO A BASEMENT FIRE THIS MORNING
ON SOUTH SECOND STREET. SOMEONE PUT SMOKING ITEMS IN A TRASH
BAG AND A LOT OF SMOKE, BUT NO REAL DAMAGE. FIREMEN CLEARED THE HOME OF THE SMOKE AND LEFT.

SEVERAL MORE MAIL BOXES VANDALIZED AGAIN OVER THE WEEKEND IN
JACKSON COUNTY.

A NEW CHURCH HAS OPENED IN MAQUOKETA. IT IS "SHILOH BAPTIST CHURCH",
AN INDEPENDENT, FAMILY-ORIENTED , FUNDAMENTAL CHURCH THAT IS MEETING WEDNESDAYS AND SUNDAYS AT THE MAQUOKETA COMMUNITY CENTER.
THE PASTOR IS STEVE HANTELMANN AND HIS CELL-PHONE NUMBER IKS 1-309-338-6602. ON SUNDAYS, THE CHURCH HAS SUNDAY SCHOOL AT 10, THE MORNING WORSHIP SERVICE AT 11 AND SUNDAY EVENING SERVICE AT 6.
THERE IS ALSO A WEDNESDAY EVENING SERVICE AND IT STARTS AT 7.

DOLORES KLEIN, AGE 86, DIED LAST NIGHT AT CRESTRIDGE NURSING HOME.
I HAVE KNOWN HER FOR MANY, MANY YEARS. SHE HEADED UP A RED CROSS
BLOOD DRIVE A COUPLE TIMES A YEAR FOR AS LONG AS I CAN REMEMBER.
ALSO WAS ACTIVE IN THE LEGION AND HOSPITAL AUXILIARIES. HER LATE HUSBAND CY, ALSO A LONGTIME FRIEND, WAS IN THE MAQUOKETA LIONS CLUB
WITH ME AND WAS THE THEISEN'S MANGER IN MAQUOKETA FOR QUITE A FEW
YEARS. DOLORES MADE SURE EVERY BLOOD DRIVE WAS PROMOTED WELL ON KMAQ AND SHE ALWAYS CALLED -IN ON OUR TALK SHOW THE WEEK BEFORE TO REMIND EVERYONE THE DRIVE WAS NEAR. SHE WAS A GOOD WORKER FOR
MAQUOKETA. GO TO LAHEY'S WEB SITE FOR HER OBITUARY.

WILL BE OUT OF TOWN UNTIL FRIDAY. WILL HAVE A REPORT THEN.
