SUNNY, BREEZY AND MID-80'S TODAY.

THE PRESTON GIRLS WON THEIR FINAL GAME YESTERDAY AND ENDED UP TAKING 7TH PLACE AT THE STATE IN 1-A.
THE MAQUOKETA GIRLS WON BOTH GAMES YESTERDAY (THE LAST GAME THEY
WON IN THE FINAL INNING) AND THEY FINISHED IN 5TH PLACE IN THE STATE
IN CLASS 3-A.

THE DEWITT BOYS SCORED ANOTHER UPSET WIN AND WILL GO TO THE STATE TOURNAMENT IN DES MOINES NEXT TUESDAY NIGHT. THEY JOIN THE PRESTON BOYS WHO WILL PLAY THEIR STATE GAME AT 6 THIS SATURDAY NIGHT. BOTH
GAMES WILL BE BROADCAST ON KMAQ AM-FM WITH GARY DETERMAN AT THE
PLAY-BY-PLAY MIKE.

SEVEN YOUNG GIRLS WILL COMPETE FOR TITLE OF MISS JACKSON COUNTY FAIR QUEEN.
THE WINNER WILL BE ANNOUNCED DURING CEREMONIES AT 2 PLM. THIS SUNDAY AT THE PEARSON MEMORIAL CENTER ON THE FAIRGROUNDS IN MAQUOKETA.
JACKSON COUNTY FAIR BOARD MEMBERS INTERVIEWED EACH CANDIDATE AND HAVE SELECTED A WINNER WHO WILL BE ANNOUNCED SUNDAY AFTERNOON.
THE CANDIDATES ARE:
JILL HEINRICH, DAUGHTER OF JOE AND SHELLEY HEINRICH OF MAQUOKETA.
JENNIFER IHRIG, DAUGHTER OF BILL AND CAROL IHRIG OF MAQUOKETA.
ELLEN SCHULZ, DAUGHTER OFF ERNEST AND LAURA SCHULZ OF MILES.
KAYLA SIEVERDING, DAUGHTER OF GARY AND JULIE SIEVERDING OF BELLEVUE.
ALI SIMPSON, DAUGHTER OF TOM AND LANNY SIMPSON OF MAQUOKETA.
HEATHER TRENKAMP, DAUGHTER OF MIKE TRENKAMP AND THERESA TALIAFERRO OF MAQUOKETA.
MICHELLE WILKE, DAUGHTER OF LINDA WILKE OF MAQUOKETA.
THE QUEEN WILL RECEIVE A $200 CASH PRIZE AND WILL COMPETE FOR THE IOWA FAIR QUEEN IN DES MOINES NEXT MONTH.
ALSO SUNDAY AFTERNOON, THE JACKSON COUNTY AREA TOURISM ASSOCIATION HAS SELECTED THE PROMOTIONAL PARTNER AWARD. VIRL AND KATHY BANOWETZ OF MAQUOKETA WILL BE GIVEN THE AWARD SUNDAY AFTERNOON.
'THE AWARD INCLUDES A POSITIVE IMPACT TOURISM IN JACKSON COUNTY AND PERSONAL SERVICE AND VOLUNTEERISM TO THE TOURISM INDUSTRY IN
JACKSON COUTNY. VIRL AND KATHY HAVE BEEN INVOLVED IN TOURISM
FOR 40 YEARS, WHILE OPERATING BANOWETZ ANTIQUES AND SQUIRES
MANOR BED AND BREAKFAST FOR 20 YEARS.
AND ALSO ON SUNDAY, THE JACKSON COUNTY FAIR FAMILY WILL BE ANNOUNCED.
THE EVENT SUNDAY AFTERNOON AT THE PEARSON CENTER, AT 2 P.M., IS OPEN TO THE PUBLIC.

20,000 PEOPLE EXPECTED TONIGHT AT MONTICELLO AT THE GREAT JONES COUNTY FAIR TO SEE LADY ANTEBELUM ON STAGE.

FOUND OUT TODAY THAT A LION AND TIGER ACT (FREE) AT THE JONES COUNTY FAIR WILL ALSO BE PUTTING ON FREE SHOWS AT THE JACKSON COUNTY
FAIR NEXT WEEK. THEY HAVE NEVER BEEN TO OUR FAIR IN THE PAST.
