WINDY AND 68 TODAY.

RAIN EXPECTED THURSDAY NIGHT AND FRIDAY.    THE WEEKEND SHOULD BE DRY BUT COOL.

WE HAVE HAD A LOT OF WIND THIS SPRING.....TOO MUCH.

THE MAQUOKETA CHAMBER OF COMMERCE WILL HOST A FORUM FOR THE DEMOCRATIC CANDIDATES FOR IOWA SENATE 13 IN THE JUNE PRIMARY.
IT WILL BE AT 7 P.M. MONDAY NIGHT, MAY 24TH AT CITY HALL, WITH KMAQ'S LEIGHTON HEPKER THE MODERATOR.      THERE ARE 4 DEMOCRATS RUNNING FOR THE SEAT NOW HELD BY ROGER STEWART, WHO IS RETIRING FROM THE SENATE AT THE END OF THE  YEAR.     THE CANDIDATES ARE:   TOD BOWMAN OF MAQUOKETA....PAUL FELLER OF CLINTON.....BRIAN MOORE OF ZWINGLE AND ED O'NEIL OF CLINTON.
THERE WILL NOT BE A FORUM FOR REPUBLICANS AS THERE IS ONLY ONE PERSON RUNNING FOR THE SEAT.

JACKSON COUNTY NEEDS TWO NEW AMBULANCES TO REPLACE OLD ONES.
THEY ARE PRETTY SURE OF A GRANT OF $48,809 AND THE HOSPITAL HAS BUDGEDED $130,000 FOR THE TWO.    THE TWO ARE EXPECTED TO COST $176,000.
THE HOSPITAL AMBULANCE SERVICE COVERS 270 SQUARE MILES SEVEN DAYS A WEEK, 24 HOURS A DAY.

THE MAQUOKETA ROTARY CLUB IS HAVING THEIR ANNUAL DUCK RACE AGAIN THIS YEAR ON THE FIRST DAY OF SUMMER, AT THE YMCA POOL.    DUCKS ARE AGAIN
$5.00 AND THE DUCK THAT WINS THE RACE EARNS $1,000 FOR ITS OWNER.    2ND THRU 6TH PLACE DUCKS WIN $100.     I'VE SOLD QUITE A FEW DUCKS OVER THE YEARS FROM READERS OF TH IS REPORT.     ALREADY, GOOD READER OF THIS REPORT, JACK WEST OF HOLLAND, MICHIGAN, HAS PURCHASED 5 DUCKS,
BUYING THEM FROM ROTARIAN BOB OSTERHAUS.   THANKS JACK!    WANT
