THE WEEKEND WAS COLD, BUT NO SNOW.
IN TEENS TODAY.
SNOW COMING TONIGHT AND TOMORROW.....SEVERAL INCHES POSSIBLE.

THE NEW TRAFFIC LIGHTS AT WESTGATE DRIVE AND PLATT WILL LIKELY NOT
BE OPERATIONAL FOR AT LEAST TWO MONTHS.      AT MONDAY NIGHT'S  CITY COUNCIL MEETING, CITY MANAGER BRIAN WAGNER SAID THE CONTRACTOR NEEDS TO PAINT THE PAVEMENT TO CORRESPOND TO THE TRAFFIC LIGHTS.    HOWEVER, BAD WEATHER IS NOW PREVENTING GETTING THIS DONE.     AFTER DISCUSSION, IT
WAS DECIDED TO  WAIT UNTIL WE GET MUCH BETTER WEATHER TO DO THE
PAINTING AND GET THE STOP AND GO LIGHTS IN OPERATION.    I CAN WAIT.
NOT SURE THEY WERE EVEN NECESSARY.

TWO 300 GAMES ROLLED THIS WEEK AT TIMBER LANES IN MAQUOKETA.
OWNER LOUIE CLASEN GOT HIS 22ND (THAT'S RIGHT, 22ND) SUNDAY NIGHT AND MONDAY NIGHT, ADAM SAGERS, AGE 21, GOT HIS FIRST.      FIRST TIME THAT PERFECT GAMES  WERE ROLLED TWO NIGHTS IN A ROW.     BUT,  ONCE BEFORE IN  A LEAGUE, THERE WERE TWO ROLLED THE SAME NIGHT.

THE MAQUOKETA BOYS, AT NEW GYM, LAST NIGHT DEFEATED DYERSVILLE
49 TO 46.    THEIR RECORD NOW 6 AND 2.....6 AND 1 IN THE WAMAC.
AND..AT DYERSVILLE LAST NIGHT, THE CARDINAL GIRLS ALSO WON,
60 TO 39.        TYLER RUTENBECK LEAD THE BOYS WITH 14 POINTS  AND
FOR THE GIRLS, KELSEY BOLLMAN WAS HIGH WITH 13.    THE GIRLS ARE NOW
5 AND 5, AND 4 AND 4 IN THE WAMAC.    BOTH OFF TO  A GOOD START.

AT THE MAQUOKETA ROTARY CLUB MEETING TODAY, STATE REPRESENTATIVE TOM SCHUELLER  WAS ELECTED PRESIDENT FOR 2011-12.     SHERRY HICKS IS THE CURRENT PRESIDENT UNTIL JUNE 30TH.      THEN,  PRESIDENT FOR THE 2010-11
YEAR WILL BE SARA MORSE.    SCHUELLER IS ALSO VERY ACTIVE IN THE NEW
MAQUOKETA LIONS CLUB.    A SURPRISE  AT TODAY'S MEETING!     ROTARIAN MARK PROESCHEL ANNOUNCED THAT HE WILL MOVE TO MADISON, WISCONSIN IN TWO MONTHS.     HE IS MANAGER OF THE YMCA IN MAQUOKETA.     NO WORD ON WHO WILL SUCCEED HIM.   HIS NEW JOB WILL BE SOMETHING DIFFERENT THAN YMCA WORK.   HE ALSO SAID HIS WIFE, DONNA (ALSO A MAQUOKETA ROTARIAN) WILL LEAVE HER JOB WITH SUNSHINE SCHOOL IN ABOUT A WEEK AND START A NEW JOB
IN MADISON.  SHE WAS NOT AT TODAY'S MEETING.    WHEN I FIND OUT MORE DETAILS ON THEIR NEW  JOBS,  I'LL REPORT HERE.     BOTH HAVE BEEN GOOD ROTARIANS AND WE WILL MISS THEM AT OUR WEEKLY MEEETINGS.     DONNA WAS  VERY MUCH INVOLVED LAST SUMMER AND FALL, BUILDING THE NEW "EARTH" PLAYGROUND AT SUNSHINE.

MAQUOKETA ROTARIAN, SENATOR ROGER STEWART  AND ST. REP. TOM SCHUELLER WILL BOTH  BE BACK IN SESSION NEXT MONDAY IN DES MOINES.
THE GOVERNOR HAS ASKED THAT THE SESSION BE 20 DAYS SHORTER THIS
YEAR, TO SAVE MONEY.     THIS WILL BE STEWART'S FINAL SESSION (HIS 8TH) AS HE
IS NOT SEEKING RE-ELECTION THIS YEAR.        SCHUELLER SAID TODAY
THAT HE WILL BE RUNNING AGAIN THIS NOVEMBER.    HE WOULD FIRST HAVE
TO WIN IN THE PRIMARY THIS JUNE,  IF HE  HAS OPPOSITION.   HE, AND STEWART,
ARE DEMOCRATS.

HAVE A GOOD WEEK.    IF YOU LIVE IN THIS AREA...HAPPY SHOVELING.
