YES...ANOTHER NICE DAY IN MAQUOKETA.

LOTS OF INTEREST IN THE CITY ELECTION!
SO FAR...
RUNNING FOR MAYOR: MAYOR TOM MESSERLI....FORMER COUNCILMAN
PAUL HAHLE.....CURRENT COUNCILMAN JASON HUTE AND THERAPIST JIM
SEWARD.
FOR COUNCIL: DON SCHWENKER, TODD MANG, BRUCE DRESSLER AND
MELODY SCHUELLER, ONE CANDIDATE FOR EACH OF THE FOUR PRECINCTS
THAT HAVE AN OPENING. NO INCUMBENTS ARE RUNNING.
THERE COULD BE MORE CANDIDATES. THE DEADLINE TO FILE NOMINATION
PAPERS IS 5 P.M. THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 17TH.

MAQUOKETA CABLE COMMISSION MEMBERS DO NOT BELIEVE THE CITY IS
GETTING QUALITY CABLE SERVICE AND PLAN TO WRITE A LETTER OF
CONCERN. THE COMPLAINT WILL BE ABOUT ERRATIC SERVICE. MAYOR MESSERLI ATTENDED THE COMMISSION MEETING AND ALSO SAID THE SIGNAL
LEVEL IS POOR, THE PICTURE IS SNOWY AND GRAINY AND THERE HAVE BEEN NUMEROUS OUTWAGES. MEDIACOM RECENTLY ANNOUNCED A $2 INCREASE
FOR ALL SERVICES, INCLUDING INTERNET AND PHONE.

THE MAQUOKETA CARDINALS AND FANS MAKE THE LONG TRIP TO VINTON
TOMORROW NIGHT FOR THE FOOTBALL GAMES WITH VINTON-SHELLBURG.
MAQUOKETA IS 2 AND 0 AND VINTON 1 AND 1. IT IS THE FIRST DISTRICT
GAME OF THE SEASON.

I'VE HEARD THERE WILL BE TWO CASEY'S CONVENIENCE STORES IN
MAQUOKETA. IF SO, I EXPECT TO GET SOME DETAILS SOON.

THIS YEAR'S JACKSON COUNTY HISTORICAL SOCIETY PIONEER DAY WILL
BE ON SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 20TH. MORE LATER.

JINGLE BELL TIME.....COMING. THE 5TH ANNUAL FESTIVAL OF TREES WILL
BE HELD AT THE OHNWARD FINE ARTS CENTER IN MAQUOKETA NOVEMBER
11TH THROUGH NOVEMBER 24TH. SET UP DAY IS NOVEMBER 11TH.
OHNWARD SENT OUT A LETTER THIS WEEK SEEKING TREES AND WREATHS
FOR THE FESTIVAL, BY CLUBS AND BUSINESS PLACES. A "FIRST PRIZE" WILL
BE AWARDED IN THREE CATEGORIES: 1/ WREATH 2/ TREE 5 FEET AND TALLER
AND 3/ TREE UNDER 5 FEET TALL. AS IN PAST YEARS, THE TREES AND WREATHS
WILL BE SOLD IN SILENT AUCTION AND THE MONEY GOES TO OHNWARD. EMAIL ME IF YOU WANT A SIGN-UP SHEET WITH ALL THE DETAILS. AND, THIS
YEAR, A TREE CAN BE DECORATED FOR YOU, FOR A MINIMUM DONATION OF $100.
THE OHNWARD COMMITTEE WILL BUY THE TREE AND DECORATE IT, AND
PUT YOUR NAME OR ORGANIZATION ON IT. A LARGER DONATION WOULD RESULT IN A MORE ELABORATE TREE. WHO MIGHT DO THIS? HOW ABOUT
A CLASS OR TWO....LIKE THE MCHS CLASS OF 1959, OR 1949, ETC.
TIME TO START THINKING "CHRISTMAS"!

END OF DAILY REPORT.....HO, HO, HO!

DENNIS VOY
