BEAUTIFUL DAY AGAIN IN MAQUOKETA!

NOMINATION PAPERS FOR CITY COUNCIL AND MAYOR ARE AVAILABLE NOW AT THE MAQUOKETA CITY HALL. MAYOR TOM MESSERLI AND 3 COUNCIL MEMBER'S TERMS ARE UP. JASON HUTE, GALEN SAUNDERS AND TIM CLARK, PLUS SEAT HELD BY MARSHA MYERS, WHO IS RESIGNING. HUTE HAS ANNOUNCED THAT HE IS RUNNING FOR MAYOR. COUNCIL MEMBERS SERVE FOUR-YEAR TERMS AND THE MAYOR, A TWO-YEAR TERM.

A NEW PARK RANGER HAS BEEN NAMED FOR THE MAQUOKETA CAVES STATE PARK, TO REPLACE LARRY ZIRKELBACH WHO IS RETIRING. HE IS SCOTT DYKSTRA, WHO WILL COME ACROSS THE STATE FROM LEWIS AND CLARK STATE PARK AT ONAWA.
DYKSTRA, HIS WIFE AND THREE GIRLS WILL BE MOVING INTO THE PARK RANGERS HOUSE THIS MONTH.

AT THEIR WEEKLY MEETING YESTERDAY, THE JACKSON COUNTY SUPERVISORS SAY THEY WOULD LIKE TO HAVE A ROUND-TABLE DISCUSSION WITH THE JACKSON COUNTY HEALTH CENTER BOARD MEMBERS TO TALK ABOUT THE CUTS TO BE MADE LATER THIS YEAR AT THE HOSPITAL.

BIG TURN OUT LAST NIGHT AT LITTLE BEAR PARK FOR "NATIONAL NIGHT OUT" SPONSORED BY THE THE MAQUOKETA PD. MAQUOKETA SAYS "THANKS"!

THE U.S. GOVERNMENT PURCHASED JAKE'S OLD PICK-UP FOR $3,500.
AND HE LIKES THE NEW ONE HE BOUGHT. GOT A RIDE IN IT TO McDONALD'S FOR COFFEE THIS AFTERNOON. JAKE SAYS "THANKS" TO ALL YOU TAXPAYERS OUT THERE. JUDY WAS GLAD TO SEE THAT OLD "CLUNKER" GO.
OH...NEW LOOK COMING TO McDONALD'S...OUTSIDE NORTH. WORKERS THERE TODAY TAKING OUT THE PLAYGROUND, FENCE AND BRICK COLUMNS.

WE ARE GETTING READY FOR A HEAT WAVE THIS WEEKEND. BUT NOTHING LIKE WHERE SHIRLEY AND RON LIVE.
