NICE DAY TODAY...AND COOL...AROUND 60.

SUPT. KIM HUCKSTADT WAS A NOMINEE FOR THE 2008-2009 IOWA SUPERINTENDENT OF THE YEAR AWARD SPONSORED BY THE SCHOOL ADMINISTRATORS OF IOWA.
"WE ARE PLEASED TO RECOGNIZE SCHOOL LEADERS WHO REPRESENT EXCELLENCE IN
EDUCATION," SAID DAN SMITH, SAI EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR. HIS PEERS IN THE MISSISSIPPI BEND AREA EDUCATION AGENCY REGION NOMINATED HUCKSTADT AND HE WILL BE RECOGNIZED AT SAI'S ANNUAL BANQUET IN AUGUST 2009.
DR. LANE PLUGGE, SUPT. OF IOWA CITY COMMUNITY SCHOOL DISTRICT, WAS SELECTED AS THIS YEAR'S AWARD RECIPIENT.

RUTH HANCHAR, 92, OF MAQUOKETA DIED MONDAY AT A DUBUQUE HOSPITAL.
HER LATE HUSBAND HAD A PHARMACY IN DOWNTOWN MAQUOKETA IN THE 50'S AND 60'S. HER OBITUARY CAN BE READ AT LAHEY FUNERAL HOME'S WEB SITE.

THE JACKSON COUNTY ANNUAL ALZHEIMERS MEMORY WALK RAISED OVER $8,000 SATURDAY IN BELLEVUE. RON AND JOAN DELEGARDELLE OF MAQUOKETA
WERE ON THE WALK COMMITTEE AGAIN THIS YEAR. RON TERMED IT A BIG SUCCESS.

THE SAVANNA-SABULA BRIDGE MAY REOPEN THIS SATURDAY. THEY ARE DOING FINAL WORK ON A NEW DECK FOR IT.
