WE GOT 32/100 INCH OF RAIN YESTERDAY. TODAY, PARTLY SUNNY, BREEZY AND
ONLY AROUND 80.

THE MAQUOKETA FOOTBALL SEASON IS JUST AROUND THE CORNER. THE CARDINALS OPEN THE SEASON NEXT FRIDAY NIGHT AT WEST LIBERTY. THAT GAME WE WILL NOT BROADCAST, BUT WE WILL DO ALL OTHERS. TONIGHT IS "SPORTS DRINK
SCRIMMAGE NIGHT" AT GOODENOW FIELD, STARTING AT 6. COME AND MEET THE CARDINALS AND COACHING STAFF.

THE DRIVER OF THE CAR INVOLVED IN A FATAL TRAFFIC COLLISION SATURDAY, THAT TOOK THE LIFE OF JERRY ANDRESEN, AGE 41, OF MAQUOKETA, IS EXPECTED TO TURN HIMSELF IN TODAY ON CHARGES STEMMING FROM THE CRASH. ROBERT HARTZ, 21, OF STERLING, ILLINOIS, IS CHARGED WITH HOMICIDE BY VEHICLE, OPERATING WHILE INTOXICATED. ANDRESEN'S MOTORCYCLE SLAMMED INTO A MERCURY DRIVEN BY HARTZ AS BOTH VEHICLES ENTERED THE INTERSECTION. THE CHARGES ALLEGE HARTZ RAN THE RED LIGHT AT THE INTERSECTION. ANDRESEN WAS WEARING A HELMET AND WAS THROWN FROM THE MOTORCYCLE. HE WAS PRONOUNCED DEAD ON ARRIVAL AT A DAVENPORT HOSPITAL. HARTZ COULD BE GIVEN A PRISON SENTENCE UP TO 25 YEARS.

ONE OF THE NEW FEATURES AT THE NEW CLINTON ENGINES MUSEUM IS A CATALOG OF THE FORMER MCHS VARIETY SHOWS. THE SHOWS, DATING BACK TO 1969, HAVE BEEN TRANSFERRED DVD. JANICE FARNUM, LONGTIME MCHS MUSIC TEACHER, COMPILED THE SELECTIONS AS A MEMORIAL TO HER HUSBAND, GAYLE, A FORMER MCHS FOOTBALL COACH. JANICE SAID MOST OF THE SHOWS WERE ON REEL-TO-REEL TAPE AND IT WAS DIFICULT TO FIND SOMEONE TO PUT THOSE ON DVD. SHE SAID A COMPANY IN NEW YORK WAS FOUND AND DID THE WORK. THE COST FOR THE PROJECT WAS PAID-FOR BY JERRY AND MARY JO STEAD, FORMERLY OF MAQUOKETA. THE DVD'S CAN BE VIEWED AT THE MUSEUM OR A COPY MAY BE PURCHASED.
ALSO...THE JACKSON COUNTY GENEOLOGICAL SOCIETY HAS MOVED ITS OFFICES FROM THE MAIN MUSEUM TO THE NEW CLINTON ENGINES MUSEUM. COPIES OF BOOKS COMPILED BY LOCAL AUTHORS ARE ALSO AVAILABLE AS ARE MANY PHOTOS OF FARMSTEADS THROUGHOUT THE COUNTY. BOTH THE OLD AND NEW MUSEUM ARE OPEN DAILY. ADMISSION AT EITHER MUSEUM IS NOW $5.00 PER PERSON, IF YOU ARE NOT A MEMBER OF THE HISTORICAL SOCIETY. FREE TO MEMBERS.
