HOT TODAY...HIGH NEAR 90.

GOOD COMMENTS TODAY AFTER THE OPENING LAST NIGHT AT THE OHNWARD FINE ARTS CENTER IN MAQUOKETA OF "THE BEST LITTLE WHOREHOUSE IN TEXAS".
IT IS ON TONIGHT, TOMORROW NIGHT AND A FINAL PERFORMANCE AT 3 SUNDAY
AFTERNOON.

MAQUOKETA WILL HAVE ONE CONTEST IN THE SCHOOL ELECTION SEPTEMBER 9TH.
INCUMBENT ANNE HAWKS WILL FACE CHALLENGER GEORGE HOUSTON. THE OTHER
CANDIDATE, INCUMBENT BILL SCHWENKER WILL BE UNOPPOSED FOR RE-ELECTION.

THE MAQUOKETA CAVES STATE PARK WILL HAVE AN APPRECIATION DAY SUNDAY, FROM 9 A.M. UNTIL 5 P.M. PARK RANGER LARRY ZIRKELBACH SAYS THE EVENT IS FREE. FREE REFRESHMENTS, PRIZES, AND MUSIC FROM 11 A.M. UNTIL 12:30 P.M.
BY SCOTT AND MICHELLE DALZIEL OF MAQUOKETA. THERE WILL BE FUN FOR ALL THE FAMILY. ZIRKELBACH ESTIMATES AT LEAST 100,000 PEOPLE GO THROUGH THE CAVES DURING THE YEAR.

JOAN AND CHRIS WATTERS OF DUBUQUE ARE PARENTS OF A GIRL BORN TUESDAY AT FINLEY IN DUBUQUE. GRANDPARENTS IN MAQUOKETA ARE LARRY ADN ANITA WATTERS.
