IT WILL BE A BEAUTIFUL DAY TODAY(THURSDAY) ....HIGH IN 70'S AND THE HOLIDAY WEEKEND LOOKS GOOD TOO....WITH SUNDAY'S HIGH IN THE 80'S.

THE MAQUOKETA AVENUE OF FLAGS WILL BE PUT IN PLACE STARTING AT
5:30 FRIDAY AFTERNOON AT MT. HOPE CEMETERY. VOLUNTEERS TO HELP ARE WELCOME.

ANDREW HAS THEIR BIG MEMORIAL DAY CELEBRATION THIS WEEKEND.
THE PARADE, AT 1 SUNDAY AFTERNOON.

THE MAQUOKETA GIRLS WON A SOFTBALL DOUBLE HEADER YESTERDAY, BEATING MARION TWICE. HAILEY BICKFORD OF MAQUOKETA HAD A HOME RUN IN EACH GAME.

ON THIS DATE IN HISTORY, IN 1992, MAQUOKETA CHIEF OF POLICE RON EVANS PRESENTED THE BRUCE BARLOW FAMILY WITH A KEY TO THE CITY AND A BAG OF JACKSON COUNTY GOODIES FROM THE MAQUOKETA CHAMBER OF COMMERCE.
INSTEAD OF GIVING THEM A TICKET, WHICH THEY HAD EXPECTED, THEY WERE REWARDED FOR VISITING JACKSON COUNTY. THEY HAD TRAVELED 15 HOURS TO VISIT RELATIVES IN MAQUKETA. RON EVANS WAS SUCH A GOOD-GUY CHEIF...
MOST OF THE TIME.

DON'T FORGET TO FLY YOUR FLAG THIS WEEKEND.
