A WELL KNOWN LOST NATION SENIOR CITIZEN DIED YESTERDAY AFTENOON
AT THE HOSPITAL IN MAQUOKETA. FOR MANY YEARS, SHE WAS A POPULAR
WAITRESS AT THE MAQUOKETA COUNTRY CLUB. ANNE MARIE VON ESSEN SCANLAN, AGE 96. EVERYONE CALLED HER ANNA. SHE WAS A FAST, GOOD,
AND FRIENDLY WAITRESS WITH A GERMAN ACCENT. SOMETIMES SHE ALMOST
RAN FROM TABLE TO KITCHEN AND BACK. SHE RETIRED AT AGE 86. YES..AGE 86.
I SAW HER EARLIER THIS YEAR AT THE DOCTOR'S OFFICE AND HAD A NICE VISIT WITH HER. SHE WAS A GOOD KMAQ LISTENER AND KNEW WHO I WAS. WHEN YOU LEFT A GOOD TIP FOR ANNA, YOU WERE GLAD YOU DID AND FELT GOOD, BECAUSE SHE EARNED IT. IF THEY ARE HIRING IN HEAVEN, SHE'LL GET THE JOB.
