IT IS SNOWING IN MAQUOKETA. WILL PROBABLY SNOW ALL NIGHT. 8-10 INCHES PREDICTED. THEN 2 TO 4 MORE INCHES TOMORROW BEFORE STOPPING TOMORROW AFTERNOON.

THE MAQUOKETA CITY COUNCIL MET LAST NIGHT AND HEARD THAT IT WILL COST MORE THAN THE ORIGINAL ESTIMATE OF $10,000 TO REPAIR THE AERIAL TRUCK.
THE TRUCK IS NOW AT ALEXIS, ILLINOIS. THE NEW ESTIMATE IS $26,745 IF PARTS CAN BE FOUND FOR THE 1984 TRUCK. A NEW PUMP WILL COST $29,104 AND THE COUNCIL DECIDED THAT WAS THE WAY TO GO. A NEW TRUCK, BY THE WAY, WOULD
COST AROUND $3/4 MILLION. THE CITY BOUGHT THIS ONE USED IN 2003 FOR $185,000. SO...WHEN ALL IS CONSIDERED...THE BEST OPTION IS A NEW PUMP.
THE TRUCK WAS DAMAGED IN THE DOWNTOWN FIRE JANUARY 19TH. MAYOR TOM MESSERLI SAID THERE MAY ALSO BE SOME INSURANCE COVERAGE.'

SKYLER EUGENE SMITH, 3 WEEKS OLD, DIED SUDDENLY YESTERDAY. HE HAS MAQUOKETA SURVIORS AND THE COMPLETE OBITUARY IS AT www.carsonandson.com

I'M STARTING TO THINK DIFFERENT ABOUT THE FOUR SEASONS.

HAVE A GOOD WEDNESDAY.....ASH WEDNESDAY!
