BEAUTIFUL DAY IN MAQUOKETA. SUNNY AND HIGH OF 70.
COOLER TOMORROW AND THE WEEKEND IS LOOKING GREAT.
LEAVES ARE STARTING TO TURN AND VIEWING WILL BEGIN THIS WEEKEND, ESPECIALLY TO AREAS NORTH OF MAQUOKETA.

FORMER MAQUOKETA HIGH SCHOOL WRESTLING COACH JEFF TAMPIR WILL BE INDUCTED INTO THE IOWA WRESTLING HALL
OF FAME ON SATURDAY, OCTOBER 27TH IN DES MOINES. TAMPIR WILL BE ONE OF FIVE COACHES INDUCTED IN THE CEREMONY AT AIRPORT HOLIDAY INN DURING THE HALL OF FAME BANQUET, STARTING AT 7 P.M. TAMPIR, NOW RETIRED,
CAME TO MAQUOKETA IN 1970 AND BEGAN COACHING 7TH AND 8TH GRADE WRESTLING. HE WAS NAMED HEAD COACH OF THE MAQUOKETA CARDINALS IN 1988 AND HELD THE POST FOR 13 YEARS. HIS DUAL MEET RECORD WAS 190-45-2. HIS TEAMS WON OR SHARED TEN CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIPS AND HE COACHED 53 STATE QUALIFIERS INCLUDING THREE STATE CHAMPIONS.

THREE VEHICLE THEFTS LAST NIGHT. VINCENT MEDINGER'S WAS STOLEN UP ON THE CAVES ROAD. BRIAN BEEDLES OF GALENA WAS FOUND SOUTH OF MAQUOKETA AND HAD BEEN STOLEN EARLIER IN EVENING IN GALENA AND A TRUCK WAS STOLEN AT BURNETT THIEL FORD THAT WAS OWNED BY A WHEATLAND MAN. THE BEEDLE VEHICLE IS THE ONLY ONE THAT HAS BEEN RECOVERED.

AN ATTEMPTED BREAK-IN LAST NIGHT AT CAN CITY AND JIM MAYBERRY REPORTED SOMEONE BROKE INTO A MACHINE SHED AT HIS FARM ON 175TH STREET.

THEY ARE BRICKING PART OF THE FORMER JACK AND JILL BUILDING TODAY, THAT WILL BE NEW MEDICAL OFFICES AND
THE LARGE PARKING LOT IS BEING RESURFACED TODAY WITH
ASPHALT. THAT CORNER IS STARTING TO REALLY LOOK NICE ON WEST PLATT STREET.

BUT..YES...THE BURNED OUT DEPOT IS STILL STANDING ON EAST PLATT AND ALSO STANDING, THE UGLY FORMER GAS STATION BUILDING ON EAST PLATT, ON THE CORNER JUST EAST OF THE FIRST LUTHERAN CHURCH.

IT IS NOT AS EASY FOR MEN AND BOYS TO GET A HAIRCUT THESE DAYS AS BOB THE BARBER HAD A SHOULDER OPERATION AND WILL NOT BE CUTTING HAIR UNTIL LATE NEXT MONTH. HE HAS BEEN A BARBER HERE IN TOWN FOR MANY, MANY YEARS.
BUT..NOT AS LONG AS BILL MERRICK. BILL HAS HAD HIS SHOP IN DOWNTOWN MAQUOKETA SINCE 1972.

TUESDAY NIGHT IS STILL BINGO NIGHT AT THE FAIRGROUNDS
AND TUESDAY NIGHT IS STILL BARGAIN NIGHT AT THE VOY
THREE THEATRE.

DR. BROWMAN IS BACK HOME, I'VE BEEN TOLD ...AND EXPECTS TO START ATTENDING ROTARY MEETINGS AGAIN, SOON. GOOD NEWS! ANXIOUS TO SEE HIM BACK.

MANCHESTER GOT 3 INCHES OF RAIN IN 45 MINUTES SUNDAY AND HAD CITYWIDE FLOODING AND NO SCHOOL YESTERDAY.

A PHOTO OF A NEW KMAQ ANNOUNCER IS BELOW THIS REPORT.

THANKS FOR THE VISIT.
