ON OUR WAY HOME WEDNESDAY (AFTER VISIT TO MAYO CLINIC...PSA REMAINS STEADY, GOOD) NANCY AND I STOPPED AT A FEW PLACES. FIRST, AT CRESCO.
NICE LITTLE TOWN WITH RAILROAD PARK/MUSEUM AND DOWNTOWN VISITOR'S CENTER THAT INCLUDES THE IOWA COLLEGE WRESTLERS HALL OF FAME.
THEN TO PRAIRIE du CHIEN, A BOOMING TOWN OF 6,000 PLUS. FAMOUS FOR THE VILLA LOUIS 1800'S HOME, CARBELLA'S BIG SPORTING GOODS STORE AND DISTRIBUTION CENTER AND THE NEARBY MARQUETTE GAMBLING BOAT. HEAD DINNER AT AN IRISH BAR AND GRILL IN PDC. AND THEN TO CASSVILLE, HOME OF GOV. DEWEY HOME, THE PIONEER VILLAGE AND THE MISSISSIPPI RIVER FERRY, PICTURED ABOVE. WE WENT ACROSS TO THE WISCONSIN SIDE FOR $12 TOTAL.... NANCY'S CAR AND US....IT HOLDS 12, BUT WE WERE ONLY CAR ON THIS TRIP. IT TAKES ABOUT 10-15 MINUTES TO CROSS....A NICE RIDE ON THE BEAUTIFUL MISSISSIPPI AND THE PRETTY SHORELINES. IT IS NOT ONLY A SHORTCUT FROM ONE STATE TO OTHER, BUT ENTERTAINMENT TOO. RIDE IT SOMETIME.
