A HOT DAY IN MAQUOKTA, 92, AND THAT TIED THE RECORD HIGH FOR THIS DAY, SET BACK IN 1932. RAIN TONIGHT AND TOMORROW AND MUCH COOLER TOMORROW.
HAD A GOOD 4-DAY TRIP FOR KMAQ TRAVEL TO BRANSON LAST WEEK, GETTING HOME FRIDAY NIGHT. BRANSON IS STILL
BOOMING.. THE NEXT 4-DAY TRIP FOR KMAQ TRAVEL WILL
BE JUNE 21-24, TO NASHVILLE. THERE ARE STILL SEATS LEFT
FOR THAT TRIP, SO IF INTERESTED IN MORE INFORMATION,

THE HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATION SEASON IS HERE. SEVEN
KMAQ AREA GRADUATIONS ARE THIS SUNDAY: EAST CENTRAL-MILES…NORTHEAST-GOOSELAKE…MIDLAND-WYOMING….CALAMUS-WHEATLAND….OLIN….NORTH CEDAR-STANWOOD….AND PRESTON. MAQUOKETA’S GRADUATION WILL BE ON SUNDAY, JUNE 3RD AT THE OHNWARD FINE ARTS CENTER.
THE MAQUOKETA HIGH SCHOOL OLD GYM FLOOR IS BEING REPLACED THESE DAYS AND THE FOOTINGS FOR THE NEW GYM NEARBY ARE IN.
DON AND LINDA POWLISTHA WILL CELEBRATE THEIR 25TH THIS
WEDNESDAY. BOTH HAVE BEEN VERY ACTIVE VOLUNTEERS IN BUILDING AND RUNNING THE OHNWARD FINE ARTS CENTER
AUDITORIUM.
ITS OFFICIAL, THE ARC (AREA RECREATION CENTER) WILL BE A YMCA FACILITY. THE CITY COUNCIL MADE THE AFFILIATION OFFICIAL LAST WEEK WHEN IT UNAIMOUSLY
APPROVED A MANAGEMENT AGREEMENT WITH SCOTT COUNTY Y OF DAVENPORT. I’LL HAVE ANOTHER PICTURE OF THE ARC ONE OF THESE DAYS, AS CONSTRUCTION CONTINUES
JUST EAST OF THE FOOTBALL FIELD.
WENT TO FOUR COLLEGE GRADUATION PARTIES LAST WEEK.

DERRICK FUGLSANG (COE), TIM MELVOLD(UN OF DUB), AND SAMI MOORE(UNI) ALL OF MAQUOKETA.
DID YOU KNOW A NEW HEAD BASKETBALL COACH WILL BE NAMED AT THE SCHOOL BOARD MEETING TONIGHT? I’LL HAVE DETAILS TOMORROW.
THE PEACE PIPE PLAYERS WILL PUT ON THE KID’S PLAY
“PETER AND THE WOLF” THIS FRIDAY NIGHT AT THE OHNWARD FINE ARTS CENTER. 7:30 P.M. THE NARRATOR WILL BE KRISTA GRAND OF PRESTON AND IT WILL BE
DIRECTED AND CHOREOGRAPHED BY ERICA BARKER.
CHUCK HEIM, FORMERLY OF MAQUOKETA, HAS RETIRED FROM THE AIRFORCE AFTER 20 YEARS. HIS SISTER IS JOAN HEAD OF MAQUOKETA. HE AND HIS WIFE AND 3 CHILDREN WILL NOW LIVE IN MISSISSIPPI.
SMOKE FROM SOMETHING LEFT ON THE STOVE TOO LONG
AT THE HURST APARTMENTS BUILDING IN DOWNTOWN MAQUOKETA BROUGHT FIREMEN LAST WEDNESDAY TO THE
FORMER HOTEL AND THE SMOKE WAS DOUSED WITH A FIRE EXTINGUISHER AND NO DAMAGE RESULTED.
THE CITY COUNCIL LAST WEEK TURNED DOWN A REQUEST TO
HELP FUND THE RTA BUS IN MAQUOKETA. ON A 4 TO 3 VOTE,
THE $4,000 REQUEST WAS DENIED. DESPITE THE DECISION,
THE DOOR TO DOOR SERVICE IN MAQUOKETA IS NOT IN
JEOPARDY.
THE MAQUOKETA HIGH SCHOOL BACCALAUREATE SERVICE
WILL BE WEDNESDAY, MAY 23RD AT 7 P.M. AT THE OHNWARD
CENTER.
THE MCHS BOYS GOLF TEAM HAS FINISHED THE SEASON, BUT THE GIRLS ARE STILL IN TOURNAMENT PLAY. AND 9 CARDINALS WILL BE AT THE STATE TRACK MEET THIS
WEEK. THEY ARE: TRISHA MILLER…SAM SHANAHAN….
LUKE PATTERSON…REID KEENEY….ERIC MANSON….BILLY KIRK….MITCH MCDERMOTT….TREVOR MANGLER….TYLER RUTTENBECK . GOOD LUCK TO THESE CARDINAL AT STATE.
9’S IS THE NAME OF THE NEW RESTAURANT STARTING UP IN DOWNTOWN MAQUOKETA, WHERE GNOMAD WAS LOCATED.
NO DETAILS YET ON WHO WILL OPERATE IT, AND WHAT KIND OF EATING ESTABLISHMENT IT WILL BE. THE SIGN IN WINDOW SAYS APPLICATIONS ARE BEING TAKEN, SO IT APPARENTLY WILL BE OPENING SOON.
