SEN. CHRIS DODD, OF CONNECTICUT, MADE A KITCHEN-TABLE STOP IN MAQUOKETA SUNDAY AFTERNOON AT THE BOB OSTERHAUS KITCHEN. THE DEMOCRAT IS AN ANNOUNCED CANDIDATE FOR PRESIDENT AND I BELIEVE IS THE FIRST ANNOUNCED CANDIDATE TO VISIT MAQUOKETA. ABOVE, STARTING WITH BOB OSTERHAUS AND GOING CLOCKWISE: NANCY MOORE, ASHER SCHROEDER, SENATOR DODD, MARLYN OSTERHAUS, BOB MOTTET, NORMA MOTTET, LAURA OSTERHAUS, AND WITH BACKS TOWARD US, SEN. ROGER STEWART AND MATT OSTERHAUS. HE VISITED ABOUT MANY ISSUES IN THE KITCHEN, AND THEN LEFT AROUND 3:30 P.M. AND WENT TO FLAP JACK RESTAUANT IN MAQUOKETA AND MET WITH ABOUT A DOZEN MORE PEOPLE. HE HAD SEVERAL STAFF MEMBERS WITH HIM, PLUS A PHOTOGRAPHER FROM "TIME" MAGAZINE, A NEWSMAN FROM "ABC NEWS",
AND A CONGRESSMAN FRIEND FROM MINNESOTA. HE HAS BEEN A SENATOR FOR MANY YEARS. IS MARRIED AND HAS TWO YOUNG CHILDREN. NICE GUY! MADE SOME GOOD POINTS! CANDIDATES ARE STARTING TO CRISS CROSS IOWA ALMOST DAILY AND WE'LL BE HAVING MANY MORE VISIT MAQUOKETA IN THE WEEKS AND MONTHS AHEAD.
