ANOTHER NICE DAY TODAY, BUT BREEZY AND ONLY IN THE MID 50'S.
THE WEEKEND SHOULD BE NICE.

BELOW THIS REPORT, A PHOTO OF THE MAQUOKETA HIGH SCHOOL WHERE TODAY, CONSTRUCTION BEGAN ON THE MAJOR ADDITIONS.

MAQUOKETA SENIOR JORDAN DAVIS BECAME A TWO SPORT ATHLETE THIS SPRING AT MCHS, PLAYING BOTH GOLF AND SOCCER. SHE HAS BEEN ONE OF THE TOP CARDINAL GOLFERS HER ENTIRE HIGH SCHOOL CAREER.
YESTERDAY, WAS THE FIRST TIME SHE HAD BOTH SPORTS ON THE SAME
DAY. SHE WAS THE MEDALIST IN A DUAL MEET AT THE PEBBLE CREEK COURSE IN LECLAIRE AS MAQUOKETA WAS DEFEATED BY PLEASANT
VALLEY, 201 TO 211. SHE CARDED A 39 PLAYING THE COURSE FOR THE FIRST TIME. SHE THEN HUSTLED HOME FROM THE AFTERNOON GOLF IN TIME FOR THE EVENING SOCCER MATCH AT GOODENOW FIELD HERE IN MAQUOEKTA AGAINST MARION. DAVIS SCORED MAQUOKETA'S LONE GOAL IN A 4 TO 1 LOSS TO MARION. IN MAQUOKETA FIRST TWO SOCCER MATCHES, DAVIS HAS SCORED ALL FIVE OF THE TEAM'S GOALS. SHE HAS BOTH GOLF AND SOCCER AGAIN NEXT TUESDAY. HER PARENTS ARE DAVE AND DENISE IN DELMAR.

THE MAQUOKETA ROTARY CLUB DUCK RACE SALE OF DUCKS(RAFFLE TICKETS) OFFICIALLY GOT UNDERWAY TODAY AT THE NOON CLUB MEETING. THE RACE AGAIN THIS YEAR WILL BE ON THE FIRST DAY OF SUMMER AT THE COMFORT INN SWIMMING POOL IN MAQUOKETA.
DUCKS ARE $5 EACH. ROTARY MEMBERS ARE SELLING THE TICKETS FOR THE 5TH ANNUAL EVENT AND THEY CAN ALSO BE PURCHASED HERE AT KMAQ. YOU CAN SEND CHECK TO KMAQ, BOX 940, MAQUOKETA, IOWA, 52060. THE FIRST PLACE DUCK GETS $1,000. FOR THE OWNER WHOSE DUCK FINISHES 2,3,4, AND 5TH...THEY EACH GET $100. THE FIRST FOUR DUCKS WERE PURCHASED BECAUSE OF THIS DAILY REPORT. I RECEIVED A $20 CHECK FOR 4 DUCKS FROM ALLEN AND PAULINE BODKIN OF IBERIA, MISSOURI. THANK YOU! MINOR ACCIDENT MONDAY AFTERNOON ON NORTH 5TH STREET.
OFFICERS SAY 85 YEAR OLD VERNA FOSTER OF MAQUOKETA WAS BACKING FROM A PARKING LOT AND HIT A PARKED VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE STRUCK WAS FROM MARION, AND RECEIVED ABOUT $800 IN DAMAGES AND THE FOSTER CAR NO DAMAGE. NO CHARGES FILED AND NO INJURIES.
