WEEKEND SPORTS: THE MAQUOKETA GIRLS AND BOYS BOTH BEAT VINTON SHELLSBURG FRIDAY. THE GIRLS WON AT HOME 32 TO 28 AND THE BOYS WON ON THE ROAD, 47 TO 46. IN THE WAMAC CONFERENCE, THE GIRLS ARE NOW 4 AND 8 AND IN THE WAMAC, THE BOYS ARE NOW 6 AND 4.
THE WRESTLERS FINISHED 8TH IN A 16 TEAM TOURNAMENT AT CLINTON SATURDAY. BILLY KIRK AND THOMAS MAYBERRY BOTH TOOK A 3RD.
MARCUS BREEDEN, MCCAULLY BREEDEN, AND DARON FUGLSANG ALL TOOK A 4TH.

THE NEW SUPER WAL MART OPENED FRIDAY MORNING AND HAD A BIG WEEKEND. SEVEN LOCAL ORGAN IZATIONS SPLIT $18,000 FROM WAL MART AS PART OF THEIR GRAND OPENING THIS PAST WEEKEND.

A JACKSON COUNTY SNOWPLOW DAMAGED A VEHICLE ON NORTH MAIN STREET IN MAQUOKETA YESTERDAY AFTERNOON. TERRY RUBEL OF MAQUOKETA, AGE 51, WAS DRIVING THE PLOW AND HIS BLADE HIT THE PARKED CHEVY SUBURBAN OWNED BY TROY THEDE, CAUSING $9,000
TO THE 97 CHEVY.

CHAD AND SARAH OWEN OF MINNEAPOLIS ARE PARENTS OF A GIRL BORN EARLY THIS MORNING IN MINNEAPOLIS. GRAND PARENTS ARE DOUG AND JEANNI OWEN OF MAQUOKETA AND JIM AND MARY BELLER OF MAQUOKETA.

ED BEIDLER, 77, OF MAQUOKETA, DIED SATURDAY. HE WAS A FARMER AND LONGTIME OWNER OF BEIDLER'S IMPLEMENT SOUTH OF MAQUOKETA.
