MORE DISCUSSION LAST NIGHT AT THE CITY COUNCIL MEETING ON WHAT TO DO ABOUT THE MAIN AND QUARRY STREET INTERSECTION. IT WAS DECIDED AT THE MEETING BEFORE TO GO WITH A 4-WAY STOP AND NOT USE AUTOMATED STOP AND GO LIGHTS. BUT, NOT ALL WERE HAPPY ABOUT THAT DECISION. SO, ANOTHER IDEA CAME FORTH LAST NIGHT.

COACH BOWMAN WAS EXPECTING TO HAVE COOK PLAY SPLIT END, DEFENSIVE BACK AND ALSO DO SOME PUNTING. THE CARDINALS OPEN THE SEASON A WEEK FROM FRIDAY AT OELWEIN. COOK ALSO IS A GOOD BASKETBALL PLAYER. HIS FOLKS ARE MR. AND MRS. LEE COOK.

THEY ARE PAINTING THE FRONT OF THE NEW WAL MART SUPER STORE TODAY. SO FAR, LOOKS LIKE IT WILL BE A PLAIN FRONT.

THE HOTTEST SELLING ITEM AT THE IOWA STATE FAIR WAS THE
BEEF SUNDAE. IN A CUP, MASHED POTATOES, SHREDDED BEEF, GRAVY AND TO LOOK LIKE A CHERRY, A MINI TOMATO. THEY PROJECTED THEY WOULD SELL 8,000 AT $3.50 EACH AND ENDED UP SELLING OVER 21-THOUSAND. THEY HAVE HAD LOTS OF FOOD NOVELTIES. YEARS AGO, THE PORK CHOP ON A STICK WAS VERY POPULAR. FAIR ATTENDANCE AGAIN WENT OVER A MILLION.

THAT'S IT FOR TODAY. THANKS.
