A LITTLE RAIN THIS MORNING AND SUNNY THIS AFTERNOON WITH A HIGH AROUND 80.

DROVE PAST THE NEW BLEACHERS AT GOODENOW FIELD TODAY....WOW....THEY LOOK NICE. NEW ENTRY GATE TOO (A FEW FEET EAST OF OLD) AND PAVED RAMP DOWN TO THE BLEACHERS. NICE IMPROVEMENT.

WENT TO ROTARY TODAY AND FELLOW ROTARIAN DENNIS ANDERSON, MANAGER OF THE WAL MART STORE IN MAQUOKETA, TOLD US THAT THE NEW SUPER WAL MART IS ON SCHEDULE AND THAT HE TAKESA KEYS TO THE BUILDING DECEMBER 4TH. IN OTHER WORDS, IT WILL BE COMPLETED DECEMBER 3RD AND READY TO MOVE INTO.
IT WILL TAKE ABOUT 7 WEEKS TO GET IT READY TO OPEN AND WILL OPEN IN LATE JANUARY. STARTING IN OCTOBER, THEY WILL TAKE APPLICATIONS FOR THE 80 NEW POSITIONS THAT BECOME AVAILABLE WITH THE NEW LARGER STORE WHICH INCLUDES A FULL GROCERY STORE.

THE CITY COUNCIL MONDAY NIGHT VOTED 5 TO 2 TO APPROVE THE FIRST READING OF AN ORDINACE WHICH WILL CHANGE THE INTERSECTION OF MAIN AND QUARRY FROM TRAFFIC LIGHTS TO STOP SIGNS, A FOUR-WAY STOP.
VOTING AGAINST THE STOP SIGNS WERE JASON HUTE AND NEIL MOREHEAD.

WILLIAM FOSTER, AGE 46, OF CLINTON, DIED LAST NIGHT AT HIS HOME.

DONALD COFFIN, AGE 85, OF MAQUOKETA, DIED TODAY AT THE VETERANS HOSPITAL IN IOWA CITY. SERVICES PENDING AT CARSON'S.

NO REPORT TOMORROW....I WILL BE TAKING A BUSLOAD OF BASEBALL FANS TO MILLER PARK IN MILWAUKEE.
