ANOTHER COLD WEEKEND. A LITTLE RAIN EARLY THIS MORNING, OUR FIRST FOR MAY. APRIL WAS JUST OVER ONE AND A HALF INCHES....WAY LOW FOR APRIL. TODAY, A HIGH IN THE 40'S , BUT WARMER WEATHER IS COMING WEDNESDAY. THANK GOODNESS.

CITY COUNCIL MEETING TONIGHT.

MARGARET MCCARTHY RETIRED LAST WEEK AFTER 41 YEARS WITH THE SAME BANK. WHEN SHE STARTED, IT WAS JACKSON STATE SAVINGS BANK. IT HAS HAD 3 OR 4 NAME CHANGES OVER HER YEARS THERE AND IS NOW US BANK...THE BANK IN THE MIDDLE OF MAQUOKETA'S MAIN BLOCK DOWNTWON. THEY HAD A WEEK LONG OPEN HOUSE HONORING HER. SHE WILL CONTINUE TO SERVE MQUOKETA AS A VOLUNTEER, INCLUDING BEING A MEMBER OF THE FAIRBOARD.

A LOT OF MINOR ACCIDENTS IN THE AREA OVER THE WEEKEND.

NEOMA NABB, AGE 88, OF MAQUOKETA, DIED LAST NIGHT. SHE AND HER LATE HUSBAND CLYDE
WERE IN THE MOTEL BUSINESS IN DEWITT MANY YEARS. A FULL OBITURARY CAN BE READ AT
