TODAY, SUNNY AND COOL, WITH HIGH IN 50'S.

THE WORK ON MAQUOKETA'S NEW WATER SYSTEM HAS STARTED. THEY HAVE STARTED TO TEAR-UP WEST SUMMIT STREET AND PART OF IT WILL BE CLOSED TOMORROW.

THE ART TEACHER AT CARDINAL ELEMENTARY SCHOOL WON'T HAVE A CLASSROOM NEXT YEAR. PRINCIPAL SUSANNE BATY TOLD THE MAQUOKETA SCHOOL BOARD THIS WEEK THAT THERE IS GOING TO BE A SPACE PROBLEM NEXT SCHOOL YEAR BECAUSE OF ADDITIONAL STUDENTS. SO, THE EXISTING ART ROOM WILL BE USED AS A CLASSROOM AND THE ART TEACHER WILL GO FROM CLASS TO CLASS WITH A CART.
ALSO THIS WEEK, THE SCHOOL BOARD EXCEPTED THE RESIGNATION OF BRIGGS LIBRARIAN MERRY KAHN, WHO PLANS TO MOVE TO BAR HARBOR, MAINE TO DO SOME VOLUNTEER WORK WITH ALLIED WHALE, A RESEARCH ORGANIZATION AFFILIATED WITH THE COLLEGE OF THE ATLANTIC IN BAR HARBOR. KAHN HAS BEEN WITH THE MAQUOKETA DISTRICT FOR 25 YEARS.

TOMORROW, IS THE LAST DAY LEGISLATORS GET PAID EXPENSES IN DES MOINES, SO THE END OF THE SESSION IS NEAR. BUT, STILL LOTS OF THINGS TO BE DECIDED.

SHAUNA RORAH OF LOST NATION IS THE MOTHER OF A GIRL BORN MONDAY AT THE LOCAL HOSPITAL.
GRANDPARENT IS TOM RORAH OF MAQUOKETA.

WILSON CORNELIUS, 91, OF ANDREW, DIED THIS MORNING AT FINLEY HOSPITAL IN DUBUQUE.

GALEN ENGELBART,74, OF RURAL ANAMOSA, DIED YESTERDAY AT A CEDAR RAPIDS HOSPITAL, FROM CANCER.
HE WAS THE OWNER OF ONE OF JONE'S COUNTY'S OLDEST BUSINESS ESTABLISHMENTS, "LASSO-E RV SALES" IN AMBER, IOWA.
