TERRIFIC FALL DAY IN MAQUOKETA...HIGH 83.... AND TOMORROW (MONDAY), THE FORECAST CALLS FOR HIGHS IN THE MID 80'S AGAIN.

NO SCHOOL TOMORROW AND TUESDAY....TEACHER CONFERENCE DAYS.

MAQUOKETA LOST TO SOUTH TAMA FRIDAY NIGHT, 20 TO 7. LONE SCORE WAS ON A 20 YARD 4TH QUARTER RUN BY JUSTIN HOPSON. MAQUOKETA IS NOW 0 AND 7. THE MAQUOKETA FRESH-SOPH TEAM WON AGAIN AND ARE NOW 7 AND 0.

UNEMPLOYMENT RATE IN JACKSON COUNTY IMPROVED IN SEPTEMBER TO 5.7 PERCENT, DOWN FROM 6.4 IN AUGUST.
IN JACKSON COUNTY, 9,930 EMPLOYED AND 600 JOBLESS. AND ALL COUNTIES AROUND US, MUCH LOWER RATE.

A MARION MAN, AGE 19, WAS KILLED IN AN EARLY MORNING CAR-PICKUP ACCIDENT LAST WEDNESDAY MORNING, JUST EAST OF MAQUOKETA. A PASSENGER IN HIS CAR WAS LAST LISTED IN CRITICAL CONDITION. THE PICKUP WAS DRIVEN BY A DELMAR MAN. THE DELMAR MAN AND TWO PASSENGERS RECEIVED MINOR INJURIES.

THE PAST WEEK BROUGHT EXTREME SORROW TO ME AND MY FAMILY. BUT GETTING THROUGH THE WEEK WAS EASIER THANKS TO OVERWHELMING SUPPORT BY HUNDREDS OF PEOPLE..... FAMILY MEMBERS, FRIENDS, NEIGHBORS, CO-WORKERS AND FROM STRANGERS AS WELL . WORDS OF COMFORT..... IN PERSON, OR THROUGH EMAIL, THE CARSON'S WEB SITE, KMAQ'S WEB SITE...WHEREVER....WERE VERY, VERY MUCH APPRECIATED. THANK YOU!!
