THE OTHER DAY, SOMEONE BROUGHT THIS PICTURE IN. WAS GLAD TO GET IT!
REMEMBER THIS KMAQ VAN? IN 1966, I TRADED-IN MY OLDS SEDAN (THE ONE I HAD WHEN I LIVED AT FORT HOOD, TEXAS WITH THE U.S. ARMY) FOR THIS NEW VAN FROM JOHN WAGENER FORD ON EAST PLATT IN MAQUOKETA, NOW THE HOME OF
T & J MANUFACTURING. AND WE USED IT FOR BOTH KMAQ AND FAMILY TRAVEL FOR SOME TIME. NOT SURE HOW LONG I HAD IT. LARRY HAGER, THEN
MAQUOKETA'S ONLY SIGN PAINTER (YOU HAD TO WAIT AWHILE FOR LARRY TO GET A LETTERING JOB DONE, BUT IT WAS WORTH THE WAIT) PAINTED THE MULTI-COLOR LETTERING ON IT. THE VAN WAS HANDY FOR REMOTE
BROADCASTS. THE BACK ANTENNA WAS FOR A REMOTE BROADCAST TRANSMITTER.
THE ENGINE WAS UP FRONT BETWEEN THE FRONT SEATS. THIS PICTURE WAS TAKEN ON QUARRY STREET, ACROSS THE STREET FROM THE NEWSPAPER OFFICE.
A BRAD DEERY NEW CAR LOT IS WERE THIS HOUSE STOOD. A LOOK BACK ON THIS 50TH ANNIVERSARY MONTH FOR KMAQ. BY THE WAY, JOHN WAGENER HAS NOT
RETIRED. BUSY AS ALWAYS. EVEN OWNS THE RADIO SHACK STORE HERE IN TOWN.
