BIG CROWD LAST NIGHT AFTER THE 90-MINUTE PARADE, BUT LESS THAN A YEAR AGO. LAST YEAR ON WEDNESDAY NIGHT, 4,719. LAST NIGHT, 3,994.

TEN PEOPLE WON $50 LAST NIGHT AFTER THE FIREWORKS. THEY HAD TO BE PRESENT TO WIN. WINNERS FROM MAQUOKETA WERE: JUNE WAHL, ....JEREMY KOON....AND....NIN FLAGEL.

STOCK CAR RACING TONIGHT.

NINE COUNTY RESIDENTS HAVE VOLUNTEERED TO BE AUCTIONE OFF AND THEN
DUNKED IN WATER SUNDAY EVENING AT THE FAIR....STARTING AT 6:30.
PROCEEDS WILL GO TO THE FAIRBOARD FOR ITS OPERATIONS. THOSE FROM MAQUOKETA: REP. TOM SCHUELLER....MAYOR TOM MESSERLI....FAMOUS BOB L. HEAD....(WON THE NATIONAL CONTEST THIS SUMMER) AND DICK'S SUPER MARKET MANAGER, SALLY DAVIES.

THE TRACTOR PULL IS FRIDAY NIGHT.....SAWYER BROWN SHOW SATURDAY NIGHT, AND STUNT CAR DRIVING SUNDAY NIGHT.

STATION MANAGER LEIGHTON HEPKER IS SHOWN HERE AT THE KMAQ BOOTH AT THE FAIR. STOP BY AND REGISTER FOR 3 PRIZES. 1ST PRIZE, TWO TICKETS TO THE LES BROWN BIG BAND SHOW FROM BRANSON, COMING TO THE OHNWARD FINE ARTS CENTER ON AUGUST 18TH. 2ND PRIZE, AN AM-FM RADIO AND 3RD PRIZE, TOW TICKETS TO THE VOY 3 THEATRE OR THE 61 DRIVE-IN THEATRE. THE DRAWING FOR THE TWO PRIZES WILL BE AT 9:05 MONDAY MORNING ON THE KMAQ JUST TALK SHOW.

KMAQ HAS TWO STAFF OPENINGS. BOB WARNER, HAS RETIRED AFTER 37 GOOD YEARS AT KMAQ AND IS CURRENTLY LIVING IN DUBUQUE. WE WILL REALLY MISS HIM HERE, AND WISH HIM THE BEST IN RETIREMENT. NATE CLASEN, MY GRANDSON, HAS LEFT KMAQ TO DO CONSTRUCTION WORK WITH HIS DAD'S FIRM AND WE NEED TO HIRE A STUDENT OR OLDER PERSON TO WORK SOME OF THE THE EVENING AND WEEKEND SHIFTS AT KMAQ. JOE BRUNO, HOME FROM COLLEGE FOR THE SUMMER, HAS BEEN DOING A GREAT JOB AS AN ANNOUNCER AND SOON WILL BE STARTING HIS JUNIOR YEAR AT CORNELL COLLEGE IN MT. VERNON.
WE WISH HIM THE BEST IN THE YEAR AHEAD. HIS DAD, ROBERT, IS A FULLTIME ANNOUNCER HERE AT KMAQ.
