HE SAID HE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE CHIEF TO SEE THE FIRE DEPARTMENT EXPANSION THIS YEAR AND POSSIBLY THROUGH THE STATE CONVENTION IN 2008, HERE IN MAQUOKETA. ALSO AT THE DEPARTMENT MEETING, JERRY WEIS, A 32-YEAR VETERAN OF THE DEPARTMENT, ANNOUNCED HIS RETIREMENT.
MAQUOKETA FIREMEN PUT OUT A CHIMNEY FIRE ON SOUTH MAIN THIS MORNING, AT THE HEINRICH CHIROPRACTIC OFFICE. THE FIRE WAS CONTAINED IN THE CHIMNEY AND SOME SMOKE DAMAGE TO THE BUILDING. YEARS AGO, THAT BUILDING WAS THE HEPKER CHIROPRACTIC BUILDING.

GOT A NICE EMAIL FROM RICH TAYLOR. HIS PARENTS, FLOYD AND MAXINE, FORMERLY OF MAQUOKETA, CELEBRATED THEIR 60TH ANNIVERSARY IN DECEMBER.
RICH TEACHES GEOGRAPHY AT A MIDDLE SCHOOL IN ORLANDO. HE
HAS TAUGHT SCHOOL 34 YEARS. HE HAS TWO DAUGHTERS AND BOTH ARE EXPECTING, SO HE WILL BECOME A GRANDFATHER FOR THE FIRST TIME, TWICE THIS SPRING.
