THE BARN TOUR SATURDAY AND SUNDAY WAS A BIG SUCCESS....IN BOTH
CLINTON AND JACKSON COUNTY. ROGER STEWART HAD OVER 400
VISIT HIS BARN 7 MILES EAST OF MAQUOKETA. ONE OF THE CLINTON
COUNTY BARNS ON TOUR HAD 300 VISITORS AND THE COUNTY FARM
INSANE ASYLUM NORTHWEST OF ANDREW WAS ALSO ON THE TOUR
MAP AND HAD AROUND 500 STOP IN.
THERE WAS A FULL HOUSE FOR THE CONNIE SMITH COUNTRY SHOW
AT OHNWARD FINE ARTS CENTER SATURDAY NIGHT AND
A GOOD CROWD FOR SATURDAY NIGHT STOCK CAR RACES. I HAD 300 AT THE DRIVE-IN SATURDAY.
SO, DESPITE THE HEAT AND WIND, GOOD TURN OUTS FOR KMAQ AREA EVENTS.
THIS WEEK, THURSDAY THRU SATURDAY, THE JACKSON COUNTY RODEO
JUST WEST OF BELLEVUE AND THE WOOD CARVERS CONVENTION IN
MAQUOKETA.
IN BUSINESS NEWS....THE FORD DEALERSHIP IN MAQUOKETA HAS BEEN
SOLD. BRAD DEERY, PRESIDENT OF BRAD DEERY MOTORS IN MAQUOKETA
ANNOUNCED TODAY THAT HE HAS PURCHASED WARTHAN BROTHERS
MAQUOKETA FORD. HE TOOK OVER THE DEALERSHIP LAST FRIDAY FROM THE DUBUQUE OWNERS. THE BUSINESS WILL BE KNOWN AS
BRAD DEERY FORD AND WILL CONTINUE IN BUSINESS JUST SOUTH
OF MAQUOKETA. NICK McCUTCHEON HAS BEEN PROMOTED TO VICE-PRESIDENT AND GENERAL MANAGER OF BOTH LOCATIONS. HE HAS
BEEN WITH DEERY FOR 30 YEARS. DAN O'MEARA WILL BE MANAGER OF THE DOWNTOWN DEALERSHIP AND RICHARD KAHNAGLY WILL BE MANAGER OF THE NEWLY ACQUIRED FORD BUSINESS. THERE ARE 88 EMPLOYEES AT BRAD DEERY MOTORS AND 12 AT THE FORD LOCATION. DEERY PURCHASED RASMUSSEN MOTOR SALES IN 1985. DEERY AND HIS FAMILY LIVE IN BURLINGTON WHERE HE ALSO HAS A DEALERSHIP. HE HAS 5 DAUGHTERS.
