84 TODAY, 9 LOWER THAN YESTERDAY. FELT GOOD.
DID NOT HAVE TIME TO DO A REPORT YESTERDAY, BUT HAD I, IT WOULD HAVE BEEN ABOUT THE STORM WEDNESDAY NIGHT. STRONG WINDS UP TO 60 MPH CAUSED SOME TREES TO BE BLOWN DOWN AND THOUSANDS OF BRANCHES BLOWN TO THE GROUND. CITY CREWS WILL PICK UP THE TREE LIMBS AND BRUSH ALL NEXT WEEK, STARTING AT 7 MONDAY MORNING, THE SECOND TIME THIS SUMMER THEY HAVE HAD TO DO A SPEICIAL PICKUP. ALONG WITH THE WIND WEDNESDAY NIGHT, A LITTLE HAIL...AND ABOUT AN INCH OF RAIN. WE NEEDED THE RAIN.
THE MAQUOKETA CITY COUNCIL AT A SPECIAL MEETING LAST NIGHT, VOTED TO GIVE THE JACKSON COUNTY HISTORICAL SOCIETY THE OLD CLINTON ENGINES ADMINISTRATION BUILDING. AND PROBABLY ALSO, 4 ADDITIONAL ADJOINING ACRES OF LAND. THERE ARE STIPULATIONS. FOR STARTERS, THE SOCIETY WILL BE REQUIRED TO COMPLETE SOME RENOVATIONS OF THE BUILDING.....NEW ROOF, WINDOWS AND TUCKPOINTING.....WITHIN THE NEXT 12 MONTHS. THE SOCIETY HAS MONEY TO DO THIS. IN LATER YEARS, IT IS THE INTENT OF THE SOCIETY TO MOVE ITS ENTIRE COLLECTION OF ARTIFACTS TO A NEW BUILDING BEHIND THE
OLD CLINTON OFFICE BUILDING. LOTS OF WORK AHEAD FOR THE HISTORICAL SOCIETY, INCLUDING RAISING A LOT OF MONEY FOR THE PROJECT.
