THIS MORNING.
THE JACKSON COUNTY FAIR BOARD MEMBERS WERE CALLED TO THE MEETING AND THE SUPERVISORS TOLD THEM THAT THE COUNTY IS GOING TO DONATE
$25,000 TOWARD THE COST OF THE NEW DIGITAL SIGN FOR THE JACKSON
COUNTY FAIRGROUNDS. THEY ARE USING SOME OF THE PROCEEDS FROM THE
SALE OF THE S & H INDUSTRIAL BUILDING. THE TOTAL RAISED NOW FOR
THE SIGN IS $30,000 AND THE COST OF IT WILL BE AROUND $35,000.
THE SUPERVISORS SAID THEY WANTED TO SHOW APPRECIATION FOR THE WORK
THE FAIR BOARD DOES. THEY PRAISED THE FAIRGROUNDS, SAYING WE HAVE ONE OF T HE NICEST FACILITIES IN THE STATE.
THREE MORE MAQUOKETA SCHOOL EMPLOYEES WERE APPROVED FOR
EARLY RETIREMENT AT THE SCHOOL BOARD MEETING LAST NIGHT.
THEY ARE: LOWELL SCHROEDER, A CUSTODIAN AT THE MIDDLE SCHOOL FOR
25 YEARS.
ROBERTA ROSHEIM, A TEACHER IN THE MAQUOKETA SCHOOL DISTRICT FOR 36 YEARS.
AND...
CAROL HAMMILL, WHO HAS TAUGHT 41 YEARS, MOSTLY AT THE MIDDLE
SCHOOL.
THEY WILL ALSO RETIRE AT THE END OF THE SCHOOL YEAR, JOINING
FOUR OTHERS WHO WERE APPROVED EARLIER AND LISTED ON THIS
DAILY REPORT.
A MAQUOKETA MAN, SYDNEY ETHRIDGE, AGE 41, WAS DRIVING WEST
ON THE CAVES ROAD, AND HIS VEHICLE BEGAN TO SLIDE ON THE
ICE-COVERED ROAD AND THEN WENT OUT OF CONTROL, SLID INTO
THE DITCH FOR ABOUT 100 FEET BEFORE HITTING THE CORNER OF A MACHINE
SHED. NO INJURIES. DAMAGES OF $2,500 TO THE 2005 HONDA PILOT
REGISTERED TO LORI SCHNOOR OF MAQUOKETA AND $250 DAMAGE TO THE
SHED OWNED BY CLETUS GERARDY ON THE CAVES ROAD.
NO CHARGES WERE FILED.
