IT IS RAINING IN MAQUOKETA.
AND....MORE RAIN BEFORE THE WEEKEND AND COOLER TOO.  
THE WEEKEND IS LOOKING OKAY, WITH LITTLE OR NO  RAIN AND HIGHS IN THE UPPER 50'S.

JACKSON COUNTY HAS A NEW ASSISTANT COUNTY ATTORNEY AND HE WILL START IN A COUPLE WEEKS.   COUNTY ATTORNEY SARA DAVENPORT SAID SHE HAS HIRED MATTHEW SPEERS OF STORM LAKE.    HE GRADUATED FROM DRAKE LAW SCHOOL AND WHILE THERE, HE WAS AN INTERN IN THE POLK COUNTY ATTORNEY'S  OFFICE.    HE HAS EXPERIENCE WITH SIMPLE MISDEMEANORS AND TRAFFIC CASES WHICH IS SOMETHING  HE WILL
BE HANDLING HERE IN MAQUOKETA FOR THE COUNTY.    HE IS ALSO A MEMBER OF THE NATIONAL GUARD.

JACKSON COUNTY HAS ALSO HIRED A NEW ROAD SUPERINTENDENT TO REPLACE BUTCH HINGTGEN WHO IS RETIRING.   BUTCH RETIRES AFTER NEARLY 30 YEARS WITH THE COUNTY.     THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS
PROMOTED ROGER MUELLER WHO IS CURRENTLY LEAD PERSON FOR THE NORTHERN DISTRICT OF JACKSON COUNTY.    HE BIGINS HIS NEW DUTIES
OCTOBER 28TH, AT A STARTING SALARY OF $52,000.

TERRY CLARK HAS BEEN  HIRED AS A JUVENILE COURT OFFICER IN THE SEVENTH JUDICIAL  DISTRICT AND WILL BE ASSIGNED TO THE JACKSON
COUNTY OFFICE IN MAQUOKETA.    SHE REPLACES BRIAN BOPES OF
MAQUOKETA WHO WAS PROMOTED TO JUVENILE COURT OFFICER IV.
BOPES  HAS SERVED AS THE COUNTY JUVENILE OFFICER IN FOR THE PAST 30 YEARS.      CLARK HAS BEEN A JUVENILE COURT LIAISON OFFICER WITH THE MAQUOKETA COMMUNITY SCHOOL DISTRICT FOR THE PAST 11 YEARS.    SHE LIVES IN MAQUOKETA WITH HER HUSBAND AND THREE SONS.

ON THE POLICE BLOTTER....TWO THEFTS REPORTED AT  THE MAQUOKETA HIGH SCHOOL.   CODY MUELLER TOLD MAQUOKETA POLICE THAT ON AUGUST 22ND, $172 WAS TAKEN FROM HIS LOCKER.
AND MARIAH EGGERS SAID AN IPOD WAS TAKEN FROM HER LOCKER ON OCTOBER 4TH.

THERE WILL BE STOCK CAR RACING AT 5 P.M. THIS SATURDAY AT THE
JACKSON COUNTY FAIRGROUNDS TRACK IN MAQUOKETA.

MAQUOKETA HIGH SCHOOL CLUB HOPE MEMBERS PAINTED THE FIRE HYDRANTS IN MAQUOKETA.     JOB WELL DONE.

THE OHNWARD FINE ARTS CENTER  "CHILDREN'S THEATRE PRODUCTION OF
LITTLE RED AND THE HOODS"  WILL BE PRESENTED THIS SATURDAY AFTERNOON AT 2 P.M.  AT THE CENTER.     IN THIS LOCAL PRODUCTION, FEATURING LOCAL KIDS, THE TALE OF LITTLE RED RIDING HOOD IS TOLD WITH MODERN LESSONS FOR TODAY'S CHILDREN.    IT IS BEING DIRECTED
BY RICHARD HALL, EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF OHNWARD.  
TICKETS WILL BE SOLD AT THE DOOR FOR $5 AND STUDENTS 18 AND UNDER, $3.   DOORS OPEN AT 1:30.    THE 850 SEAT OHNWARD FINE ARTS CENTER THEATRE IS LOCATED ON EAST PLATT STREET IN MAQUOKETA WITH PLENTY OF FREE, PAVED PARKING.
