I DON'T KNOW WHO THE BOYS ARE, BUT THEY WERE SHOOTING BASKETS IN THE RAIN AND
SNOW IN BRIAN AUNAN'S DRIVEWAY.
RICHARD SAGERS, 80, OF UNIVERSITY PLACE,
WASHINGTON, DIED THURSDAY. HE WAS BORN
IN MAQUOKETA TO HOWARD AND LULU SAGERS.
GRADUATED FROM MAQUOKETA HIGH IN 1952.
WAS A DENTIST FOR 32 YEARS. IS SURVIVED
BY HIS WIFE PAT, 2 CHILDREN, 3 GRANDCHILDREN,
AND A SISTER, LINDA HOLMGREN (MAQUOEKTA NATIVE) AND NOW OF DUBUQUE. THE FUNERAL
WILL BE HELD AT A LATER DATE.

CHRISTMAS EVE WEATHER WAS ALSO NICE.
BUT, NO SNOW.
NANCY AND I PARTICIPATED IN THE 11 P.M. CANDLE SERVICE AT FIRST
LUTHERAN CHURCH IN MAQUOKETA. NEARLY FULL CHURCH.
WATCHED A CHRISTMAS PROGRAM ON TV AFTER AND DID NOT GET
TO BED UNTIL 1 THIS MORNING. LONG DAY FOR ONE MY AGE.
STAR WARS....HAS BEEN A BIG HIT AT THE VOY THEATRE. THE MOVIE
IS STILL HERE...AND FOR 2 MORE WEEKS. ALSO SHOWING NOW FOR

OVER A HALF INCH OF RAIN YESTERDAY...
CLOUDY TODAY....
A LITTLE SNOW IN FORECAST TONIGHT, VERY LITTLE....
JASON STANER, A RESIDENT OF BELLEVUE, HAS BEEN APPOINTED TO THE
JACKSON COUNTY REGIONAL HEALTH CENTER BOARD OF TRUSTEES.
HE WAS APPOINTED AT THE HOSPITAL BOARD MEETING TUESDAY AND WILL BEGIN SERVING JANUARY 1ST. HE REPLACES MIKE NICKESON OR RURAL
MAQUOKETA WHO RESIGNED EARLIER THIS YEAR. HE IS A VOLUNTEER PARAMEDIC WITH THE BELLEVUE AMBULANCE AND IS SECRETARY OF
THE AMBULANCE BOARD. HE IS A CRITICAL CARE PARAMEDIC AND WORKS OUT OF MERCY HOSPITAL IN DUBUQUE.
OFFICERS OF THE HOSPITAL BOARD WERE RE-ELECTED FOR ONE YEAR
TERMS. KEVIN BURNS, PRESIDENT....GLORIA JORGENSEN, VP....EILENE BUSCH, SECRETARY AND DUANE TRENKAMP TREASURER.
IN PERSONELL MATTERS....HOLLY ROMER OF MAQUOKETA IS RETURNING
TO WORK AT THE HOSPITAL AND WILL BECOME THE DIETICIAN AND DIABETIC
EDUCATOR. CURRENT DIETICIAN KARA DEMOSS RESIGNED.
ALSO, TERRY HUTCHROFT WILL BE RETIRING DECEMBER 31ST AS THE
HOSPITAL ANESTHESIA CARE PERSON. A SEARCH IS UNDERWAY FOR
HIS REPLACEMENT AND HE WILL CONTINUE TO SERVE ON AN AS-NEEDED BASIS.
AND RHONA MILLER, A 30-YEAR EMPLOYEE, WILL RETIRE AT THE END
OF THE YEAR.
THE BOARD ALSO HEARD THE ANNUAL REPORT FROM THE HOSPITAL
AUXILIARY, CELEBRATING THEIR 60TH YEAR IN 2016. THERE ARE 69 ACTIVE MEMBERS.
JENNIFER HAYWARD WHITE, AGE 48, OF FORTH WORTH DIED DECEMBER 15TH. SURVIVORS INCLUDE HER PARENTS, JIM AND JANICE HOVEY-HAYWARD OF MAQUOKETA, AND A BROTHER, JEFF HAYWARD, IN MAQUOKETA.

FALL. THE JACKSON COUNTY ORGANIZATION WAS FORMED IN 1998.
MONDAY NIGHT, CERTIFICATES OF APPRECIATION WERE PRESENTED TO
DORIS CURRIER, VIOLA KILBURG, MARY JO WEIS, NORMA ROUND, AND JUDY BOWLING. HONORED FOR 500 HOURS OF COMMUNITY SERVICE WORK WERE LESLIE HAYES, MARY LOU JOHNSON AND DORIS CURRIER.

WAS TRAVELING NORTH ON WESTERN AVENUE AND LANE WAS ALSO GOING NORTH AND BOTH VEHICLES WERE IN THE TURNING LANE TO TURN LEFT ONTO WEST PLATT STREET WHEN LANE REAR-ENDED NIMS WHO WAS

WE WANTED A BETTER VIEW OF THE LOOP, SO TOOK A HORSE AND BUGGY RIDE. LITTLE CHILLY BUT FUN.

ANYWAY, TO MAKE A LONG STORY SHORT IT WAS A BEAUTIFUL WEDDING AND A FUN WEEKEND AND WE SEND CONGRATULATIONS TO THE NEWLYWEDS ON THEIR HONEYMOON THIS WEEK. NOW, I WILL BE WATCHING THE MAIL FOR A LETTER FROM THE ILLINOIS TOLLWAY AUTHORITY. I DROVE PAST A TOLL PAY BOOTH....COULDN'T GET OVER TO IT QUICK ENOUGH.
YOU KNOW THE OLD SAYING...."NICE CITY TO VISIT BUT I WOULD NEVER
WANT TO LIVE THERE".
