THE NORMAL HIGH HERE AT THIS TIME OF YEAR, IS 70. TODAY, 82.
LOTS OF PREDICTIONS, THE LATEST IS THAT THE MIDWEST WILL HAVE
A MILD WINTER. ANOTHER IS THAT IT WILL BE A BAD WINTER FOR CHICAGO.
THE LAKE (AND WIND) MAKES FOR DIFFERENT CHICAGO WEATHER THAN THE REST OF THE MIDWEST.
ALSO, WE ARE NOT NOW HAVING "INDIAN SUMMER". IT DOES NOT COME UNTIL
AFTER A SHARP FREEZE, WHICH WE HAVE NOT HAD YET.

THE JACKSON COUNTY DISPOSAL AGENCY EMPLOYEES ARE ASKING FOR A 10%
WAGE INCREASE IN THE FIRST OF A PROPOSED 3 YEAR CONTRACT. THEY ARE
ASKING FOR 8% INCREASE THE SECOND YEAR AND 7% THE THIRD YEAR.

AT LEASE 60 PEOPLE SPORTING SPECIAL T-SHIRTS WALKED AROUND MAQUKETA OVER THE
NOON HOUR TODAY. THE T-SHIRTS SAID "START SOMEWHERE WALK". THE
WALK WAS PART OF THE STATE OF IOWA HEALTHIEST STATE INITIATIVE.

THE MAQUOKETA HIGH SCHOOL MARCHING BAND WILL TAKE PART IN THE STATE MARCHING BAND COMPETITION AT KINGSTON STADIUM IN CEDAR RAPIDS, STARTING
AT 1:15 P.M. TEH BAND'S THEME IS "STAR" AND BAND DIRECTOR KENT CRAWFORD
SAYS THE BAND HAS BEEN WORKING VERY HARD AND IS READY FOR THEIR COMPETITION.

THE PAUL SAGER'S COLLECTION, ONE OF THE LARGEST AND MOST SIGNIFICANT
ARCHAEOLOGICAL COLLECTIONS IN EASTERN IOWA, WILL BE SHOWCASED AT AN OPEN
HOUSE FROM 1 UNTIL 3 P.M. TOMORROW AFTERNOON IN THE OFFICE OF THE
STATE ARCHAEOLOGIST AT THE UNIVERSITY OF IOWA ON CLINTON STREET IN IOWA CITY. MANY OF YOU WILL REMEMBER THE PAUL SAGER'S MUSEUM AT THE ENTRANCE TO THE MAQUOKETA CAVES STATE PARK, THAT WAS OPEN UNTIL 1988. MUCH OF WHAT
WAS LOCATED THERE WAS THEN GIVEN TO THE STATE. AN HONOR TOMORROW FOR
THE PAUL SAGERS MAQUOKETA FAMILY. MANY OF YOU KNOW BEST, HIS DAUGHTER, JO ANN (MRS.BOS) CAVIN OF MAQUOKETA.
