SUNNY TODAY, BUT HIGH ONLY OF 60.

BUDDY OLSON, HAS RETIRED AS EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT COORDINATOR FOR JACKSON COUNTY....A PARTTIME POSITOIN THAT HE HAS HELD FOR MANY YEARS. WHEN HE FIRST TOOK THE JOB, THE MAIN SOURCE OF EMERGENCY COMMUNICATION WAS EITHER SMOKE SIGNALS, OR THE TELEGRAPH. HE HAS SERVED THE COUNTY WELL.
THE JACKSON COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS IS HAVING A JOB DESCRIPTION MADE UP AND WILL ADVERTISE FOR THE POSITION NEXT MONTH. MEANWHILE, BUDDY AND AND HIS SON CONTINUE TO OPERATE OLSON SECURITIES.

GARY PURTILLO HAS RETIRED AS A CONSERVATION OFFICER IN JACKSON COUNTY, A POSITION HE HELD FOR MANY YEARS ALSO. A GOOD, TOUGH GAME WARDEN HE WAS.

GERALD MILLER, OWNER OF TIMBER CITY TROPHY AND SHIRT WORKS REPORTED TO THE POLICE THAT SOMETIME AFTER 8 MONDAY NIGHT, SOMEONE TOOK A MAGIC MARKER AND MARKED ALL OVER HIS BUILDING AS WELL AS OTHERS ALONG MAIN STREET.

NOLA ERNST, AGE 87, OF MAQUOKETA AND FORMERLY OF PRESTON DIED YESTERDAY AT HER HOME.
YEARS AGO, SHE WORKED AS A COOK AT THE GREEN MILL RESTAURANT. AND FOR 20 YEARS, SHE WAS THE TRANSIT COORDINATOR AT THE JACKSON COUNTY SENIOR CENTER. SHE IS SURVIVED BY 4 SONS AND MANY GRANDCHILDREN.
ALSO SPECIAL FRIEND, TOBY SAUNDERS OF MAQUOKETA.

MR. AND MRS. JOHN JONES OF MAQUOEKTA LEFT TOWN THIS WEEK.....BACK TO ARIZONA FOR THE NEXT FEW MONTHS.
I CAN JUST PICTURE JOHN THIS AFTERNOON, OUTSIDE WITH SHORTS ON AND WIPING HIS FOREHEAD FROM THE SWEATING IN THE HEAT. HAVE A GOOD FALL AND WINTER JOHN AND MERT AND KEEP CHECKING THIS REPORT.
JACK AND I ARE PREPARING FOR THE FINAL WEEKEND OF THE SEASON AT THE DRIVE-IN. JOHN'S SON, JACK, HAS BEEN MY THEATRE MANAGER SINCE 1975. HIS DAUGHTER BARB, AND FAMILY , HAS LIVED IN PELLA FOR QUITE A FEW YEARS.
