NO SNOW YET..BUT SUPPOSEDLY COMING. IT'S 3 IN THE AFTERNOON AND CLOUDY.

THE JACKSON COUNTY SUPERVISORS RECEIVED A REPORT ON THE APPRAISAL FOR BICENTENNIAL PARK, JUST NORTH OF THE HOSPITAL HERE IN TOWN. THE PARK WAS OPENED IN 1976 AS A HEALTH FITNESS PARK AND HAS BEEN USED LITTLE OVER THE YEARS. IT BORDERS THE BEAUTIFUL MAQUOKETA RIVER. HOSPICE OF JACKSON COUNTY IS INTERESTED IN BUYING THE PARK AND USE IT FOR THEIR NEW 6-TO-10 BED HOSPICE HOUSE. THE APPRAISAL CAME IN AT $77,500. SUPEVISORS WILL TALK ABOUT SELLING IT DURING THEIR WORK SESSION NEXT WEEK. A PUBLIC HEARING
WILL HAVE TO BE HELD BEFORE IT CAN BE SOLD BY THE COUNTY. IT IS LOCATED IN THE CITY. I'M NOT SURE HOW I WOULD VOTE ON SELLING IT.

LOIS POTTER, AGE 65, DIED IN A TWO-VEHICLE ACCIDENT AT 3:40 YESTERDAY AFTERNOON NEAR THE HURSTVILLE INTERPRETIVE CENTER JUST NORTH OF MAQUOKETA. SHE DIED AT THE SCENE. SHE WAS WESTBOUND ON 65RD STREET, FAILED TO YIELD AT THE STOP SIGN AND PULLED INTO THE PATH OF A VEHICLE DRIVEN BY A STATE OF WASHINGTON MAN, DRIVING NORTH ON HIGHWAY 61. HE WAS DRIVING A 2000 CHEVY TAHOE AND HE WAS NOT INJURED. POTTER WAS NOT
WEARING A SEAT BELT. SERVICES ARE PENDING AT CARSON AND SON FUNERAL HOME.

THE UNEMPLOYMENT RATE IN JACKSON COUNTY DROPPED TO 3.9 PERCENT IN OCTOBER, FROM 4.1 PERCENT IN SEPTEMBER.
