ANAMOSA HELD IT'S ANNUAL "PUMPKINFEST" YESTERDAY IN DOWNTOWN ANAMOSA AND
NANCY AND I GOT THERE IN TIME FOR THE 2 P.M. PARADE. A BEAUTIFUL DAY AND
THERE WAS A VERY BIG CROWD. FOUR BLOCKS OF MAIN STREET WERE BLOCKED-OFF AND THERE WERE FOOD STANDS AND CRAFT STANDS ON BOTH SIDES OF THE STREET. THE BIGGEST PUMPKIN CONTEST WEIGH-IN WAS HELD IN THE MORNING IN THE COMMUNITY CENTER DOWNTOWN AND ALL 33 ENTRIES WERE ON DISPLAY THERE.
THE BIGGEST PUMPKIN WAS IN THE PARADE AND I GOT THE PHOTO OF IT FOR THIS DAILY REPORT AFTER THE PARADE. THE PARADE LASTED JUST UNDER AN HOUR
AND FEATURED THREE BANDS, THE ANAMOSA HIGH SCHOOL AND MIDDLE SCHOOL BANDS,
AND THE MAQUOKETA MIDDLE SCHOOL BAND DIRECTED BY JAY KAHN. THEY LOOKED
AND SOUNDED GOOD AS ALWAYS AND GOT APPLAUS AS THEY MARCHED IN THE PARADE.
AGAIN THIS YEAR, THE EVENT WAS AGAIN THIS YEAR ADVERTISED ALL WEEK ON KMAQ AM AND FM AND WE SAW QUITE A FEW JACKSON COUNTY PEOPLE THERE.
HOPE YOU CAN ATTEND NEXT YEAR.
AS ALWAYS, CLICK-ON THE PHOTOS TO ENLARGE THEM.
